orienteering 45:00 intensity: (25:00 @2) + (20:00 @3) ***

I ran Mary's trail course at Clinton Overlook. But I took some odd routes to add some more terrain running and avoid as much trail running. It was fun despite some trashy woods.

The rain began after about 30 minutes and I started to have some trouble reading the map.

I have now done 5 days in a row with some O' technique. I think I'm going to start a 31-day challenge. It won't be the classic version (train O' technique every day in January) or the modified (starting January 1, complete 31 days with O' technique as soon as possible). It'll be something like a modified 31 day challenge but starting in December.

Today’s orienteering training:

The remote map for the first 2 courses was fine. There are details that should be added and a couple of routes affected by construction. It’d be a fun sprint area.

The remote map for the last 2 courses needed a lot of work. The first 7 controls of the first course weren’t possible to reach. There have been a lot of changes. I should create a new basemap.

Also, I tweaked my left calf on the first course I ran. I tweaked it a few days ago, too.

Mary and I ran two short sprint courses on a map I created. Lots of fun. The trees were mostly good. I used >= 20 meters to identify large trees. Not perfect but pretty good.

See the Instagram link for a few snapshots from the terrain and maps with GPS tracks.

running 45:00 [2]

Jogging on West Campus. I checked the weather before I left. Temp was 36F and it was cloudy/foggy. Then 5 minutes into the run the sun came out. I was way overdressed.

Note

I spent some time playing around with some lidar from Kentucky. It came in Kentucky State Plane Single Zone. The data was in feet. I had no trouble converting to meters, but I couldn't figure out what to do about the "single zone." Lastools seems to have Kentucky north and south, but not "single zone." It was aggravating enough, that I just moved on.

MTB cycling 1:00:00 [1]

On the bike path. I paid a visit to Sanders Mound. Fun and nice weather for biking. Lots of people out on the loop.
