rowing 20:00 [1]

A nice easy day to give my legs a bit of a break from orienteering and from sitting in the car. Row, row.

I need to take some time to scan maps and write up my notes from the weekend. Maybe later tonight.

Day 2 at NTOA's event.

I had a similar run to the first day, with a leg in the middle of the course where my mind wandered. 14 to 15. AP splits shows me losing a minute on that wandering. I think a bit of that was moving slowly when I was drifting off line.

Overall, a decent race. I was a little bit lazy with the thorns and probably didn't push as hard as I should have.

The last bit of the course - controls 17 and 18 - were fun. It was unusual to have such short legs with some actual map reading so close to the finish.

Mary only beat me by 1 second on the run in (though it was a very short run in).

First day's green course.

Mostly a good run. The forest was a bit junky and thorny, so it didn't feel like an especially smooth or clean run, but I think that's largely due to the junkiness.

I wonder how many people took the road to 1.

I had one leg where my mind wandered and I had no flyt. That was leg 8. I was surprised by the stream with all of the earth banks. The earth banks were much lower than i'd expected. Visually they stand out on the map, but the actual earth banks weren't much to see. I probably lost about 30 seconds (though AP doesn't show any loss).

AP splits says I lost 6 seconds...all of it on the run in. I actually pushed pretty hard on the run in, so it is a bit disappointing. Mary beat me by 5 seconds on the run in.

cycling 45:00 [1]

The work commute. I was running just a little late - maybe 5 minutes later than normal. So I worked a bit harder than usual to make up some of the difference. Not that it really matters.

cycling 45:00 [1]

The work commute. But not the normal work commute. In the morning, I biked over to the Fire/Med headquarters for a meeting, then after the meeting went to the office.

Work commute. Still warm. Temp was mid-60s when I woke up. This isn't fun at all.

running 30:00 [2]

Running around on West Campus, including a scary encounter with a leashed square-headed dog.

A little bit of technique training on an enlarged sprint map with windows at the controls. It was kind of fun, but getting a bit dark and hard to read the map.
