cycling 25:00 [1]

Biking to/from the classroom at Wescoe.

A chilly 15F when I left this morning.

running 30:00 [2]

A short run at Dad Perry Park. One of my projects is to update/re-do the sprint map. I checked out some of the trails and got some GPS tracks. It is a neat, but very small, area.

I cut the run short so I could be home in time to watch the KU basketball game.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Finally, back to the kind of weather we should be having. Upper 30s for the trip to work, lower 30s for the trip home. Some snow falling during the day and during my ride home, but nothing sticking.

I shuffled around on West Campus. I felt like I was working just a little bit harder than intended, but not actually hard.

I also tested my newest O' pants. They seem fine. There's still plenty of room for improvement and there is some really sloppy construction. Slowly, but surely, my sewing skills are improving.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. For the trip home it was warm, but not as bad as recent days.

rowing 20:00 [1]

Row, row. I felt a little off and a little bit of rowing was enough.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. Another crappy warm day. I'm not sure how warm it was in Lawrence, but I saw that it reached 80F in KC.

The trip home was a small adventure. KU was playing at 6 p.m., so there was some strange driving going on around campus.

running 25:00 [2]

A short jog on West Campus, home in time to watch the basketball game.

Work commute. I could tell I was a bit tired.

Another warm day.

running 15:00 [2]

Jogging around on the base map at Tonganoxie, including getting a GPS track of the cross country course. I followed the running up with an hour or so of field checking. The contours are messed up because they are based on 2010 lidar and there's been a bunch of construction since then.

running 45:00 [2]

An easy jog at the Riverfront area. I carried the map and looked at it occassionally. I also got out on a sand bar and searched for bones. I didn't find much, but I did find a vertebrae of some large animal - maybe bison?

Another ridiculously warm day. Clouds kept the temps a bit more reasonable, but it must have been near 70. Yuck.

Note

I finished another pair of O' pants today. I modified the pattern again and I think this pattern is good. I made a few sewing errors, but nothing too severe and nothing that caused much trouble. These are definitely my best pair of custom-made O' pants. I didn't have any help from Mary (she did change the thread in the sewing machine and serger before I started).

orienteering race 1:00:06 [4] 7.24 km (8:18 / km)
ahr:163 max:177 11c

Rockcrusher with course setting by Sandy (with some assistance from Mary). This was fun - with several route choice legs that felt fresh. People were taking different routes, so that's a win for the course design.

It was a tough run. Rockcrusher is a bit hilly and the forest is typical for Kansas. The rough open areas are rough. The trails are narrow, lumpy and somewhat rocky. The hillsides can be rocky. Its the kind of place where you never really get to rest. Fun, but tough.

running 10:00 [2]

Warm up jog. Easy to break a good sweat on such a warm (70 F) day.
