orienteering 15:19 [3] 1.56 mi (9:49 / mi) +46m 9:00 / mi

PTOC at Jesse James Park in Kearney, MO.

The course was fun, especially the section through the disc golf course.

The weather was ok, but hot and humid. It seemed like low 80s when I started.

I had a reasonable run. It is hard to tell about the running effort. The heat makes it hard to know the right effort. I suspect I was loafing a bit.

I had one small mistake - 10 seconds. I should have gone back to look at the area and see why I made the mistake. I have a theory, but I can't test it without being there.

running 15:00 [1]

Jogging around to warm up a bit plus some added jogging as "running camera" after I'd finished the course.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. Some rain for the ride home.

Also, I found a quad-copter drone that someone must have crashed. I'm not sure how to get it back to its owner, but I posted on the Lawrence lost/found on Craigslist.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Just the work commute. It was hot and humid in the morning (temp 81F when my alarm went off just before 6:30 a.m.). The trip home was mostly comfortable as the temp was only about 87F. That's much more comfortable than the last few days.

running 45:00 [2]

103F. Hot.

I shuffled slowly on the trails and to frequent breaks to walk slowly. I was on the trails at Clinton so I was in the shade.

I wasn't too terrible. Glad I did it. That said, I'd like for the weather to improve a bit.

Work commute. I mowed the lawn when I got home. It was hot.

MTB cycling 1:30:00 [1]

MTB on the river trails after work. Temp was low 90s and "heat index" in the low 100s. Yuck, but better on a bike than on foot.

The trail is in good shape except that the Mud Creek loop (beyond the cut off) is closed.

I was surprised to not see any other people on MTBs. I did see a large group of Trailhawks.

A highlight of my day was seeing a tweet from IFK Lidingo with a picture of Micko Tarandi. I checked Jukola results and he ran on the 3rd team. Wow. I thought of Micko as a bit old 25 years ago...but he's still running Jukola. The team finished 372 which seems so-so (but I don't know any of the other runners so I've got no idea if that was a good or bad result).

running 1:30:00 [2]

Another slow trail run at Clinton. I got out the door a bit later than I should have, but not too late. Still it was warm and humid and I was soaked by the time I finished.

I saw Mary out there. I also saw a few other runners and a couple of hikers.

I thought about going for a MTB ride on the river trail, but I decided to skip that and avoid being out in the heat.
