MTB cycling race 1:58:00 [4] ***

MTBO as part of the Ft Leavenworth series. That means it is more like an adventure race than an MTBO event.
We started on the Adventure Race map that I made for them (lidar contours, some vegetation from photos and a database of land cover, paved areas and buildings from air photos, and some trails from GPS tracks from prior races and some from the organizers. It isn't an O' map, but it is better than the old USGS map they'd been using.
After 1 control on the AR map, we used the USGS and that was a challenge due to new roads and housing development.
Then back to the AR map before a few controls on a Google Earth photo. Finally finishing on the AR map.
I had some trouble with a flat tire. That cost me some time. I also had a bad luck of changing the tube in an area swarming with mosquitoes.
Fun, but I understand why Fritz had trouble and didn't have fun.
I think I started a bit low on hydration. The event was long and warm. When I finished I headed straight out to hang markers for the night O. And then I just crashed - headache, crappy feeling, stomach upset a bit, etc.
Mary made me drink a Coke, which helped.
Also, I earned a Ft Lev Adventure jersey and that was pretty cool.
