Bike path and a bit of road to Clinton.

Single track at Clinton. I hadn't biked these trails in a long time and was expecting to struggle with the roots and rocks. But, I felt good and I seem to be better on the trail now than I was last fall. I'm gradually getting better at holding my pace through a rougher spot and at not getting so fixated on a bit of tricky stuff that I'm not ready for the next rough spot. I've still got a long ways to go to build technique, but it was nice to feel better than expected.

I locked my bike, changed my shoes and did some running on the trails.

I took a fall and I'm pretty much sore all over right now. Left hip, lower left ribs, left knee, right elbow and right hand. The ribs aren't bad, which is really good news. The right hand was sore enough that I had trouble shifting the bike on the way home. It could have been worse.

I managed to finish the run without falling again.

MTB cycling 45:00 intensity: (35:00 @1) + (10:00 @3)

MTB on roads, grass and gravel. I did 4 x 2:30 on a part of the Ulrik's Hill. Fun. Maybe I'll do more biking intervals throughout the summer.

Work commute. Cool and cloudy. I think it is supposed to get warm on the weekend. I prefer cool.

Short jog on West Campus.

I saw Kevin F. The new baby is named Gwendolyn and all are doing well.

I felt mostly lousy until about noon. Then I started feeling normal and running was good.

Ulrik's Hill training. I did 1x the hill and then ran a short line O' course. It was kind of cold and wet. We had weak attendance (just Mary and I). But it was still fun and I'm glad I put in a little hard running. My breathing was not good.

My plan was to sit around the house, have a cup of coffee, read the paper, watch some of yesterday's MTB world cup race and then go for a bike + run at Clinton. But when I looked at the weather, I decided to try to beat the storms.

I ran the "old man loop" at Clinton and just beat the storm. In the lats 20 minutes it was raining, then lightning started getting nearer at the very end, and it absolutely poured for the last 30 meters to get to the car. The storm wasn't much problem around here, but the same storm had 58 mph winds and golf ball sized hail in KC.

The run was fine - I felt a lot better than I did yesterday.
