Strength.

We had an OK picnic at Clinton. Nice evening and good company. Mary planned a short course for the youngsters. I put out and retrieved the controls. Here's some of the action:

4 x Ulrik's Hill. I was a bit worried about the weather. The forecast called for a chance of hail, lighting, winds and tornados. But it was actually sunny and not too terribly warm or humid (after raining most of the day). More strong storms are in the forecast for later tonight.

I felt uncomfortable and the hills were hard. I felt a lot better last week.

Only Ulrik and I ran (and Ulrik was starting his 5th hill when I went home).

Work commute.

I'd planned to go for a run, but I slept poorly last night and I'm planning a hard run tomorrow...I also needed to mow the lawn...so, I got lazy.

Work commute. My legs felt tired in the morning.

A little bit of strength training. I'm not yet up to a true "feat of strength" like this...maybe next week:

Easy jogging on the trails at Clinton. I parked at the boat lot on the west side of the state park.

I carried the map and looked at it now and then, but mostly just let my mind wander.

We had a load of rain, thunder and lighting in the morning. I waited until the lighting passed before I went out. That worked out well. The trails were wet and muddy, but the temps were reasonable. By the end the sun was shining and the humidity and temp were getting a bit rough.

Note

My Garmin 305 finally died. Soft resets didn't work. Hard resets eventually seemed to work. But then the watch would shut off after 3-7 minutes. About half the time, another hard reset would seem to work but only for another 3-7 minutes.

I got a new Forerunner 910xt to replace it. So far, I like it.

Jogging on the river trails. I discovered some new trail work. They've been creating a boardwalk along the part of the trail that was deep sand. It will make it much easier to ride that little section of the trail. Here's a snapshot:

To haul the wood into the forest, they drove some sort of tractor that left a trail going from the levee to the boardwalk. I'm hoping that they plan to maintain that connection as a trail rather than let it get overgrown.
