Some orienteering training in the snowy forest at Clinton Rockcrusher. I saw Mary out there:

Note

And for some pre-run inspiration I watched the women's sprint relay from the world xc ski champs. I knew the result, but it was still fun to watch:

The video will be available for the next few weeks.

running 35:00 [2]

Jogging around on West Campus. The snow was a bit of a chore in some places.

I got on my skis and shuffled around on West Campus. It wasn't all that much fun - the snow was either icy or a crust that would break now and then.

Light shoveling. We only had another inch or so of snow.

rowing 20:00 [1]

Row, row.

I'd initially planned on running, but I was just feeling sleepy when I got home. The rowing machine was enough to break a good sweat and do a little bit of something.

In other news, Mary told me that the park office called to find out which roads we would need plowed for the A-meet if there is any snow. They're also working on a press release. They really are very good to work with. I think that says a lot about the relationship that PTOC built up with them over the years (going back to the mid 1970s, I guess) and the relationship that Mary, Dick and Paul (and Mike and others I imagine) have built up over the last year or so.

Shoveling snow. We had about 5-7 inches of very wet and heavy snow. Shoveling was tough work. It was enough for me today.

SLOC's "Runt" at Rockwoods. I got tired. I also had lots of little misses - nothing big but I was frequently off a little bit, like begin a line too high for a control of expecting the control to be a line higher than it was.

The snow wasn't much trouble but it was getting slippery as the day went (and as the temps warmed).

The prizes were pretty sweet:
