Note

Putting out some controls, picking up some controls and working registration and results at Dad Perry. Fun. It was especially nice that we had a bus load+ of Shawnee Mission kids. They bring some energy to the event.

Dick, Reta, Mary, MG, Jenny and I went to 23rd Street Brewery aftewards where we had a long wait for food and got to see the Jayhawks come remarkably close to winning the football game.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. Chilly for the ride in. On the ride home I was able to follow a car-free Jayhawk Blvd. The street was shut down a half an hour early for the KU Homecoming parade.

Work commute.

When I woke up the temp was 71. 45 minutes later it had dropped to 51 and was raining. I was suprised to see another 7 people out commuting in the cold, wind and rain.

MTB on the river trail. Some of this was a lot of fun. Two flats was not.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. My left knee feels nearly normal. My right knee feels much better. There's still some fluid in the knee and the cut can hurt a bit, but the knee isn't stiffening up the way it was yesterday. I might try jogging tomorrow night.

Warming up.

orienteering race 16:00 [4] ***
20c

Some preface stress when we learned that Mary's dad was in the hospital - worried about him and Patsy. Turns out he was more or less ok.

NAOC sprint. Steady run for the first 9 controls the ran into a low fence on the way to 10 and fell pretty hard. Both knees hit rock and the right knee bled a fair amount. Lucky to avoid bruised ribs. From 10 on my navigation was behind and my knee was tightening. Bummer.

The course was fun with more variety than I'd expected.

Off to see S and A (and the kids) as soon as we finished.
