orienteering race 29:59 [4] *** 5.71 km (5:15 / km) +71m 4:57 / km
ahr:166 max:177 16c

PTOC long sprint at JCCC/Stoll Park. I worked fairly hard and pushed until the end and managed to beat both Matt and Joe. Nice.

running 10:00 [2]

Jogging around a bit to warm up. Legs felt pretty good.

orienteering 23:51 [3] *** 2.39 mi (9:58 / mi) +28m 9:37 / mi
ahr:157 max:168 14c

After the long sprint, I went back out and ran around the 3 Km sprint course.

My legs felt a little tired and my left knee felt a bit sore (I stepped in a little hole on the first race and slightly hyperextended my left knee...something that always freaks me out a bit).

I ran with the headcam and, as an experiment, tried to talk about what I was doing. It was interesting, but not very satisfying. I do a lot more than I can put into words.

Video+GPS+maps will come later (maybe tomorrow).

Note

I decided to walk to work. I'm thinking I might walk to work once a week. We'll see.

After work, I met Mary downtown to watch the street long jump. The rainy weather kept the crowd small (about 500 according to the paper). Here's a jump:

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. I had to go to the Solid Waste Task Force meeting, so I didn't really have time to (a) run with the Trailhawks or (b) watch more than just the warm up of the downtown shot put. Bummer.

Here's a short video clip of a competitor warming up. After I left, the crowd got bigger. The paper reported it at 2500 people. Impressive.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Biking to/from Clinton overlook. I pushed the effort a little bit a few times.

running 1:05:00 [2]

Jogging on the trails from the Corps Office. I carried a map and spent some time reading it. I also spent some time just jogging along and letting my mind wander.

There was a MTB race at Clinton today.
