orienteering race 58:29 [4] *** 6.82 km (8:34 / km) +261m 7:12 / km
ahr:164 max:174 19c

PTOC event at Camp Jayhawk. The area and map are new. The forest was a bit thick. It was thorny, too.

I ran reasonably well. Physically, I'm not especially strong these days. But the effort felt good. I drifted a little a couple of times. Two weak routes. 2-3 I changed my mind after I saw Gene ahead of me taking the route I'd initially planned. I should have just stuck behind Gene, but I couldn't resist the chance to test the routes in real time. 14-15 I took a chance that there would be an old trail or even road along the stream. It turned out to be really rough and slow.

I've yet to see full results, but Matt B. got me by 23 seconds. It is fun to see the young guys improving. But it is more fun to see them improving and finish a little ahead of them. Training should help.

running 10:00 [1]

Easy jogging to warm up a little.

I ran with the head cam. Unfortunately, the battery wasn't charged so after about the first minute the cam shut down.

cycling 45:00 [3]

Work commute.

Feeling much better.

I'd have done an easy run, but we hosted an OK potluck and meeting. The meeting seemed to go well. Good food. Good company.

George brought four bottles from the Burnham McCleary Cellars.

Something is off. Maybe getting sick?

Work commute.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. The temp for the trip home was 60F. It felt strange.

rowing 25:00 [1]

The plan was to run with the Trailhawks. But I didn't leave work until it was too late to meet them. At home I decided to Row, row, ro...rather than go for a short jog. That was lazy.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute.

After work met Mary, Raymond and Jenny, Dick and Nancy, and Gene and Dee at Encore. Really nice dinner and good company. It was foggy and dark for the trip home.

orienteering 36:53 [2] *** 2.13 mi (17:18 / mi) +64m 15:50 / mi

Orienteering course at Rockcrusher at a slow pace. The effort was higher than it should have been because of the snow and slippery bits. Fun. The course was simple.

4 points = run + >90 minutes + terrain + navigation.

running 1:05:00 [2]

Jogging to/from the course and a bit extra. The jogging was a mix of terrain and trail (mostly trail).
