running 1:00:00 [2]

Running with the basemap at Rockcrusher. I spent most of this time in the terrain as opposed to on the trails.

2 x some O' technique work on the map we used yesterday (a 'work-in-progress' map at Rockcrusher).

On the second bit, which was at a decent effort, I used the head cam. I pointed it more down than I've done before. That gives a better view of the map and map reading. I watched the video once (will probably watch a bit more carefully later) and noticed a few things that I didn't really know about how I read the map.

5 points = running, 90+ minutes, terrain, hills, navigation.

New Year's eve training at Rockcrusher. We had a nice group: Mary, Gene, Fritz, Rick H., Dick, Shifman, Paul, Marv, Pete, Gina and Patrick.

A bit chilly - especially standing around before and after. The thermometer on the car read 31F at the start and 23F at the finish (and there was a strong wind the entire time...plus a generally damp feeling, too).

I did minimal warm up (jogged/walked to the start and then shuffled around a bit to keep warm while everyone else started).

I felt good running.

Note

I put in about 4 hours at Rockcrusher. Most of the time I was fieldchecking, but I also hung tapes for tomorrow's training.

It was very comfortable in the forest today. I think the temp must have reached 60. For the training tomorrow we're expected a chance or rain/snow, wind and falling temps.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. We had fairly dense (and wet) fog this a.m.

A short O' practice at the Arboretum. I ran with the head cam and you can see the tracking + video here:

http://www.attackpoint.org/sessiondata.jsp?session...

I wanted to test the video + gps tracking. I was also interested to see how the head cam would work at night. I think the highlight of the video is just after the 6:50 mark when a rabbit runs in front of me.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. I pushed the effort a bit on the trip home.

rowing 20:00 [1]

Row, row.

Monday Dec 27, 2010 #

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute and otherwise a day off.

I'm still trying to decide if I'll take a vacation day on Thursday. The forecast is for temps close to 60. If I take the day off, I'd plan to put in a good 4 hours of fieldchecking at Rockcrusher. On the other hand, I don't get a lot of vacation days and I'm tempted to save the day for something else.

running 45:00 [2]

Another visit to Rockcrusher. 45 minutes or running - a mix of trails and terrain - and 30 minutes of fieldchecking.
