running 1:40:00 [2]

I ran at Rockcrusher, sticking to trails most of the time. I made a few notes on the map as I went and will use the GPS track and my notes to add some of the trails to the map. I carried the 2.5 meter contours + laser scan lutning image. I've enlarged the basemap quite a bit (previously it was just the 1 square K centered on Rockcrusher Road.

At the far west edge of the current basemap, I came across a big tent that some people are living in. Their dogs barked at me.

The pace was easy and I walked a few uphills.

2 points for today's run. If I'd run a bit more in the terrain, I'd have gotten another point. If I'd run more hills, I'd have gotten another point. If I'd done more intense map reading, I'd have gotten another point.

I saw 5 bald eagles.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. Stopped for a breakfast meeting on the way to the office.

running 35:00 [2]

Easy headlamp jog on West Campus. I with the trails over there got a little more use. Actually, I wish the university would build a trail network for runners, hikers and mountain bikers.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. I had to deal with a few little icy patches on the way to work.

rowing 20:00 [1]

Row, row.

I also did some xmas shopping this evening.

Note

Just heard the sad news that Kevin Shipley passed away.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. The trip home was in a light drizzle with temps just below freezing. It was slick in a few spots (like pavement markings). I wonder what it'll be like for tomorrows commute.

I'd planned to do a trail run tonight. But that was before I realized I've got a holiday reception to attend. The Mayor hosts an annual reception. In the past it has been at the Mayors house. That would be perfect (the current mayor lives 4 houses down the street). But this year the reception is at the old library downtown.

running 20:00 [2]

Jogging to warm up and then get back to the car. Most of this was on small trails, but some was in the terrain.

A forest sprint orienteering course at Rockcrusher. The map was 1:5k with 2.5m contours + most of the trails + the OL Laser lutning image.

I ran at a steady pace and felt better than expected. Running in the terrain felt nice.

I wore the headcam but managed to do something wrong (probably double-punching the shutter?) as I only got 4 seconds of video.

Here's the map (without the control circles drawn):
