I'm probably running the 10-hour event at Indian Cave next weekend. It is too late to really train for it, but not too late to do some preparation. I figured a longish outing with a Camelbak and some orienteering would be fun.

I was out for a little over 4 hours, mixed jogging and walking. The jogging made up a bit over 2 hours of the total.

Mary drew 2 courses on the West Campus map, 1 on Mt Oread, 2 on the downtown map, and 1 on the Burcham Park map. I also printed out a couple of OOM street-O maps to carry for the between O' map sections.

As I was going between West Campus and Mt Oread I heard my name from above. It turned out MeanGene was on the top level of the AFH parking garage taking photos of a road run that was finishing on the road between the Burge Union and the Law School.

I was happy with how the Camelbak worked. The straps didn't cause discomfort and the pack was comfortable. I taste tested a couple different blocks of soft Gu-like things (I'm not sure what to call them). The Gu brand version was better than the Clif version.

By the end I was tired. My right hip was a bit sore, too. A bit cooler temp would have been nice.

Work commute. Perfect conditions on the way in. By the end of the day it was cool (mid 40s), windy, and an ice-cold rain was falling.

A co-worker offered to give me a lift home. I declined. He called my office from the parking lot and said it was really windy and raining hard, was I sure I didn't want a ride. I was sure.

I spoke with Mary on the phone around 4:30 and she offered to drop by and give me a ride home. As if. Mary should know better than that.

The work commute and nothing else. I was presenting something to the CC and, as usual, at the end of the agenda. Not all that long a meeting. I was home just after 10. It felt like a longer meeting.

Work commute. Another day with good timing. We woke up to thunderstorms and heavy rain. The storm stopped about 10 minutes before I left the house, then started again about 45 minutes after I arrived at work. Nice.

I spent the time thinking about the PTOC 10 or 3 hour event at Indian Cave in Nebraska. I'd initially thought of doing the 12 hour overnight version. But, then decided to do the 3 hour day version. Now they've cancelled the overnight event and replaced it with a 10 hour day event (and the 3 hour day version is still an option). Not sure which I'll do.

Began with a bike path ride with Mary. Then, I went over to the area around Dad Perry Park and did some sprint map fieldchecking while riding. Mostly I just checked out the roads and cul de sacs - checking to see if there were any roads that didn't show up on the lidar intensity image. It was getting a bit warm out there.
