running 20:00 [1]

Warming up and jogging around a bit after the race.

orienteering 15:00 [4]

PTOC sprint at JCCC. Paul C. set the course - really fun with route choices on most of the legs.

Amazingly cool weather - low 70s and low humidity. Raymond pointed out that this would be great weather in the UK, but for the other reason (i.e. nice and warm instead of nice and cool).

I felt quite good running. Pushed just a bit too hard on one leg and suffered on the next leg. I certainly had room for a better race, in particular begin a little faster into the circle. I should probably take a look at the QR data and see.

After my run I jogged out on the course with my phone and got a snapshot of Joe towards the end of the course.

Took advantage of the nice weather by doing a bit of a ride in the middle of the afternoon. My legs felt a little worn from the run this a.m.

cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Commuting to/from work. Amazingly comfortable weather for this time of year, maybe 60 in the morning and about 76 when I biked home. Really felt good.

rowing 20:00 [1]

On the land boat when I got home but before the TDF coverage came on.

running 30:00 intensity: (25:00 @2) + (5:00 @4)

Not what was planned.

I was just beginning 15 minutes at an honest effort (as 70/20s) when I came across a dog on the trail ahead of me. Not just a dog, but a square headed dog. The dog was some sort of pit-bull mix. Had that pit-but head and body, but was a little small (small...or hungry?). The dog was on a leash but a person was not attached to the other end of the leash.

I had flashbacks to being torn up as a kid (dog got my leg, pulled me to the ground, chomped my back and then grabbed me by the neck). Lots of blood. Not fun.

Fortunately, this dog didn't go after me. I felt suprisingly calm as I wondered if it would be best to "feed" the dog my left arm or my left wrist (maybe the Garmin 305 on my wrist would slow him down?).

The dog kept a close eye on me, but let me walk away.

I went up to the levee and just jogged back to the car.

Note

I did a bit of fieldchecking after work. Then I got a carry-out pizza and took it over to Summer. Eating pizza and watching the TDF.

running 35:00 [1]

Ran on the trails at Clinton. The trails got 10 minutes or so of heavy rain about 20 minutes before I got there. By the time I started the sun was out. Even without the steamy trails, it was uncomfortable. The "heat index" was 106 (probably more, actually). Fun? Not really. Mostly just slipping on the mud and feeling drained by the conditions. Glad I did something, though.

cycling 1:00:00 intensity: (20:00 @1) + (30:00 @2) + (10:00 @3)

Commute to/from work. My legs are getting used to riding.

rowing 20:00 [2]

On the land boat watching a re-run of a stage from the 2004 TDF.

cycling 55:00 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (15:00 @2) + (10:00 @3)

Biking to/from the downtown map. Once I was there, I did a bit less than two hours of fieldchecking. I got surprisingly tired. It wasn't very hot. Fun, though.
