Note

Long, surprisingly tiring travel day. Purely a family trip. But I will try to squeeze in a run or two.

cycling 1:00:00 [1]

Commuting to/from work. Really humid.

My plan is to bike to work at least twice a week. Didn't happen this week.

running 35:00 [3]

Jogging on the river trail after work. A big storm popped up in Jefferson County and pulled some of the humidity out of the air. The run felt ok.

On the way home the storm picked up the wind and the temp dropped 10+ degrees in 10 minutes.

Meanwhile...as I write this the Royals had a runner thrown out trying for an inside the park home run. If he'd have been stopped at third they'd have had a man on third, no outs. The 3rd base coached waved the runner on. The runner slowed a bit approaching 3rd and then had to speed up before getting thrown out at home. It is like they are trying to reduce the chances of winning the game.

Note

I spent some time fieldchecking the downtown sprint map - mostly adding all the trees in the train park and around the library block. Fun.

As I was heading back to the car I met one of the City Commissioners and showed him my map. He seemed a bit puzzled that I'd be out fieldchecking as a hobby.

Leaving work and going to attempt a short (20 minute) run.

running 20:00 [2]

Nice jog on the river trails. Hot but maybe not quite as bad as expected. I took a long time after I stopped before I felt good.

Had a song stuck in my head:

cycling 1:40:00 [2]

Riding on the bike paths. I managed to get out the door reasonably early (8-ish). I saw more people than usual out on the bike paths.

At one point I saw a car pass by (I was on the path, the car on K-10) and thought - hey, that looks like Mary's car. I figured Mary was still home, sound asleep. Turns out it was Mary's car. She'd gone over to Clinton and done some running on the flat grassy areas.

Note

I did a bit of sprint map fieldchecking at South Park and around the police station. I felt like I was making good progress.

A couple of observations...When I parked the car, the Royals were tied 3-3 in the 3rd inning. When I got back in the car, it was the end of the 4th inning...and the Royals were now down 11-4. That must have been an awful inning to watch....There was a group of about a dozen people in the park fighting each other. They had pads on their arms and legs and were punching and kicking each other.
