orienteering 30:00 [2]

After watching a little bit of the first leg of Jukola, I went to Constant/Burcham and tested my course for next weekend.

Note

I did some mapping today. In the a.m. I checked some stuff and made a few changes in Burcham and Constant Parks. In the afternoon I did some mapping at South Park.

running 45:00 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (5:00 @3) + (10:00 @4)

On the trails at Clinton. The trails were a bit muddy and slippery in places, that kept my pace down. I did 15 minutes of 70/20s.

Near the end a met a pack of 5 trail runners (all women). I guess it must have been some sort of group. Gene mentioned that there is a Lawrence version of the Trail Nerds.

Note

CC meeting tonight. I'm not last on the agenda, but I'm close. If things go ok, I'm hoping to be home around 9. That's probably optimistic.

cycling 1:00:00 [1]

Commute to/from work. Serious humidity today.

On the trip to work, 3 people out walking dogs said hello as I rode by.

running 1:40:00 [2]

Got myself out of bed, ate a bit of skyr, and was on the trail before 8 a.m. Temps were still under 75 by the time I finished.

I saw 5 other trail runners out there but nobody else on the trails and just 3 people fishing at Lake Henry. An Indigo Bunting sitting on a branch next to the trail was a highlight. Usually they seem to fly away as soon as a runner approaches, but this one just sat on a branch.

When I got home, Mary suggested going out for breakfast. We went to Marisco's, which is close to our apartment, and I had a big breakfast. The biscuits and bison gravy were tasty.

cycling 50:00 [2]

I decided I could sit in a comfy chair in the air conditioning and watch some sports on TV...or I could get outside and roll around a bit. The lazy version of me would have watched TV, but I managed to get out for a ride. It was hot, sunny, and windy. I think I was a bit dehydrated as I drank a full waterbottle without thinking about it in the first 15 minutes of the ride.
