O' intervals at Wyandotte. I used the course Mary had as a hilly test loop last year (or maybe the year before). I was a little bit overdressed - didn't realize how warm it was until I started running.

After the O' intervals, I did some low pace stuff using the map of the winding trails on the east side of the lake. The map scale must have been around 1:2500 or so.

Fun stuff and I finished in time to arrive in front of the TV right at tip-off for the KU-Tenn game.

O' session on the not-yet-finished downtown sprint map. My plan was to keep a high LAM rate. But with all the traffic (people and cars) to worry about it was a bit difficult.

Warm weather - ran in shorts and felt perfectly comfortable.

rowing 20:00 [2]

Row, row, row...but only for 20 minutes.

orienteering 1:00:00 [2] **

Jogging at Woodridge with Lidar-based contours and DEM. I explored a bit, trying to make sense of some of the details I could see on the DEM. The data show a lot of stuff - some very shallow ditches and small depressions, for example. Really interesting. I think that with some practice, I'll be able to interpret a lot more from the DEM.

Some of the time was just running along, reading the details on the map.

We had a good group - Patrick, Marv, Pete, Gene, Dick, Nancy, Tracy, Fritz, Paul, Mary, and I. We stopped for a meal at 23rd St Brewery afterward. I was at the opposite end of the table from Pete, so I didn't here his experience of doing a brown course with Michael Commons first hand.

other 30:00 [2]

While watching the first half of the KU football game. Now, time to celebrate new years eve! Probably watch the second half, drink a glass of Smithwicks, maybe read a bit, and go to sleep.

running 15:00 [2]

A bit of jogging.

Night O' (corridor course, Pasi style) at SMP. I avoided the hordes of deer. The wind picked up and it was a bit unpleasant running across the big open area at the start.

other 20:00 [2]

Row, row, row....watched a few minutes of the Northwestern v. Quantrill-lover's bowl game. So far, good is winning out over evil.

running 50:00 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (20:00 @4)

I ran at Tiffany Springs. The flood gate was closed because of ice. I parked south of the flood gate and ran across the ice to get to the trails.

The trails were muddy and icy and snowy. The ice and snow (just a dusting) was no trouble, but the mud was a bit slick.

I really should see if I can track down some decent contours for Tiffany Springs. It wouldn't make for fun orienteering, but with decent contours and the trails drawn in, it'd be useful for some training.

I did 20 minutes at an honest effort (as 70/20s) and it felt good.
