running 35:00 intensity: (20:00 @2) + (15:00 @4)

A short run at Wyandotte. There was enough snow and ice to be a bit slippery - a good day to be wearing O' spikes. I ran on the trail from the 5K race and put in an honest effort for 15 minutes (as 70/20s). I wasn't moving very fast, but it was a good effort. I carried the O' map and did a fair amount of map study - focusing on big picture and looking ahead. I ran this trail a week or so ago in the dark (and without a compass) and it was amazing how much different it seemed to run in the day.

The last part of the run was a short course on a contour only map (1 meters from Lidar). Fun.

running 35:00 [2]

On the river trails after work. The plan was to do a good 75-80 minutes. But, I kept worrying about the condition of the roads. The temp was about 30 and mist was falling. Would the mist change to rain? Would the rain freeze on the road? When I noticed some light ice forming on a tree (I stopped to check that it was ice and not just water), I decided to turn around, hustle back to the car and get home before it got much worse. I think it was a wise decision, even if it turns out the temp is on the way up and it looks like we won't get much ice.

Just a little rowing. Since I've been lazy recently, I decided to work pretty hard, even if it was only 20 minutes.

running 50:00 [2]

On the river trails after work. This was a really nice run. We got a couple of inches of fresh snow during the day and late in the afternoon the temp went up a bit (closer to 20 than 10). I was a little surprised to meet two hikers and two cyclists out on the trail.

I also felt quite good after about 35 minutes.

AOWN - forgot to note that I saw the season's first Lawrence bald eagles. I spotted the first one as I turned off New Hampshire into the parking lot - cool to see bald eagles from my parking lot.

Just enough to break a sweat.
