Note

Planned to run or ride, but I ended up cleaning up the basement and then feeling like doing nothing outdoors in the crappy weather. I made some good progress in the basement (and found some interesting old stuff that had been stored away in boxes for years).

running 20:00 [2]

Jogging on the river trail.

running 10:00 [4]

6 x 400 meters with 30 seconds rest. Felt good but I could tell the heat was making me move slower than usual and my heart rate didn't drop as much as normal during the rest.

Note

An earned day off = 1 point.

Bought the new DVD of the KU v NC and KU v Memphis NCAA tournament games = 3 points!

running 20:00 [2]

Jogging on the river trail. Humid out there.

running 10:00 [4]

6 x 400 meters with 30 seconds of rest. Felt pretty good, though the last one felt a bit slow.

2 points = run + intervals.

Note

Mowed when I got home. By the time I was done, I was tired. Didn't sleep enough last night, I guess. I wore the GPS, but haven't yet downloaded the data to compare my mowing performance versus last week's mowing.

running 1:05:00 [2]

Easy jogging on the big hill at Wyandotte. I felt much better today (it helped that the temp was cooler and I ran in the shade...and I ran slowly).

2 points = run + hilly.

orienteering 45:00 [2] ***
12c

Ran a course at JCCC (using the basemap).

We started running at 3 p.m. - the heat of the day - after spending half an hour in the air conditioning at the Nerman Art Museum. It felt hot. Turns out it was 89 degrees. My body isn't used to that. I felt ok for about 10 minutes, then just struggled. After about 40 minutes, I couldn't get my h.r. under 160 when I was jogging slowly down a hill. I tried walking a couple of minutes and got my h.r. under 160, but not under 150. Just felt really uncomfortable.

Still, the orienteering was fun for about 35 minutes.

I'm giving myself 3 points for today.

3 = run + navigating + terrain (I'll give myself credit for campus sprint terrain relevance).
