running 1:20:00 [2]

Some easy jogging at SMP in the open areas and the mtb trails. The weather was very, very nice - around 70 and steady rain most of the time. You don't get days like this in July very often.

My plan of taking it extra easy this summer seems to be working pretty well. I don't feel run down. But, it means I'm feeling far from good running shape (and my legs feel a bit dead after just 80 minutes at an easy pace).

Spent some time working on OCAD for the Haskell map. I might get to Lawrence for some field checking tomorrow.

running 30:00 [2]

Jogging around on the trails at PNS. Right knee hasn't been normal since Saturday. It isn't bad, but it feels like I sprained it a bit. Strange.

On the trainer watching today's Economic Development and Incentive Policy Task Force meeting on channel 2. I guess it was nice to be able to work and exercise at the same time.

Still feel a bit beat up from running in the rocks. Spent some time on the trainer preparing to watch the TDF.

orienteering 35:00 [2]

Short, fun course on the map that hosted the 1993 WOC relay (I can't remember the name of it). Relatively cool and the sun broken through the clouds - felt much more comfortable than yesterday.

I cut the session a bit short.

Putting out control markers for the training course that Greg B. designed.

After setting out the controls, I decided to sit near a little knoll and get photos of the runners as they took the control on the top of the knoll. I put my pack down and sat on a log. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. I'd put my pack on a wasps nest.

I ran some of the training course. My concentration was lousy, in part because of all the wasp stings. I kept missing controls and being annoyed by the stings. Eventually, I put together a couple of good legs in a row and decided I'd had enough.

Picked up a few controls and jogged back to the cars. Worn out by the end.
