orienteering race 1:10:00 [3] ***
13c (injured)

PTOC event on a new map at Blue Springs Lake. I mixed jogging/running/walking. I'd guess I walked about 1/3rd of the course. Jogging felt mostly ok. I got a couple of blisters, probably from the active ankle changing how the shoe fit on my foot.

Fun.

PTOC night O' on the same map as the earlier run. This was score O' with lots of controls. I ran in the VJ Sarva Grips, which felt better with the blisters and seem to fit pretty well even with the active ankle.

Night O' is alway fun.

running 20:00 [1]

Almost forgot. I'm planning to record my warm ups (something I have never before done). 2 x ten minutes of jogging to warm up for each race.

Some easy cycling. My ankle felt pretty good all day - so I'll plan to jog/walk the first course tomorrow, then make a decision about the night O.

I ran at PNS on the way home from work. It is dark enough that I need my headlamp. It still feels strange to run with a headlamp when it is warm (mid 70s today).

I did some tests to see how my ankle will work. Based on how I feel tomorrow, I'll decide what to do about this weekend's O' races. I could skip them both (or one of them). But, I'm thinking I'll do both races with a mix of walking/jogging.

Today's tests include some easy running on rough/rocky trail, some easy up/down hill, some short fast running on flat trails, and a few sharp turns at a slow jog. I wore the active ankle.

I climbed a total of 280 feet.

I expected (hoped?) that the ankle would feel good when I woke up this morning. It didn't feel so good. So, instead of a little jog, I rode the trainer in the basement. I'll try a jog tomorrow.

Easy (very Judy) jogging on the trails at PNS. I was really happy with how my ankle felt this morning and it felt pretty good jogging. I ran with the active ankle.

running 15:00 [1]

Short jog around the neighborhood. It felt so-so. I can tell that I'm not running normally. I'll run again on Tuesday.

I took the MTB out on the Mill Creek trail. I began near the Kaw and went south (passing through SMP). I had a bit of headwind. My time out was 70 minutes, then just 60 to get back with the tailwind.

Fun. My legs got a bit tired near the end and my upper back got a bit sore (I'm not used to riding a bike for more than about 30 minutes at a time).

Another nice day -- low 60s and mostly sunny.
