orienteering race 46:00 [4] ***
ahr:172 16c

Middle distance at the team trials. I ran M21 and had another decent, but with room for improvement, race. The rain, cold and wind made for more interesting orienteering because you could go farther off the line to save muddly, sloppy climbs.

I was pretty happy with my result. I finished ahead of two of the WOC team members (Dan S-H and Boris) and within striking distance of the other two (8 seconds behind S.V. and 38 behind Eric B.). Wish I'd been 2 seconds faster and beaten Leif A.

I climbed 620 feet.

Sprint race at the team trials. I had a decent run. But, I've still got plenty of room for improvement. Fun.

Short ride on the trainer.

running 40:00 [2]

Jogging around at PNS. Weather was warm (74 F) and the park was full of people. I climbed 340 feet.

running 10:00 [4]

Some intervals on the trails at PNS. I began with 3 minutes hard, then 3 very easy, 4 hard, 3 very easy, then 3 hard. I ran a bit harder than planned and stopped feeling ready for more.

cycling 30:00 [1]

Some time on the trainer. My legs felt good. They felt good yesterday, too. That's nice because my legs hadn't felt very good for quite a while.

orienteering 1:15:00 [3] *****
ahr:149 38c

Platt, Mary and I went to Knob Noster for some practice. I ran a control picking course. Nice run, though my mind wandered a couple of times, especially after I saw Elvis in the forest. They've burned parts of the forest, making the nicest areas even nicer. Sweet.

In addition to an Elvis sighting, I saw a turkey and a piliated (sp?) woodpecker.

The new O' shoes felt great.

I climbed 860 feet.

running 15:00 [2]

Jogging around in the woods after the O' session. Most of the time I was trying to spot the woodpecker. I caught a couple of glimpses. I climbed 120 feet.
