orienteering 52:05 [4]
ahr:162 max:175 12c

Red course at Monkey Mountain. We got a bit of snow (enough to shovel, not enough to ski) so the footing was a bit of a problem. I felt good, but boomed one control with a good 3 minutes. Yuck. Tom H. set the course -- fun course.

After I finished the course, I went back out and re-ran the two legs I had trouble on and took a couple of other controls, too.

My legs felt great (not surprising after a couple of easy days, but still nice). It'll be interesting to see how running feels tomorrow at Monkey Mountain.

Note

I'm tempted to go put in another 5 minutes so I show up ahead of Peter on Attackpoint's front page.

A short night O' at SMP. I started at a harder pace, just below an honest effort, but eased off after slipping and sliding on the mud on the way to the first control. Mary set the course, Dick, Nadim and I ran it. Fun, but would have been more fun with more people. Went out for Thai food after the run (probably ate too much).

A short warmup and a bit of jogging after I finished the night O'.

On the way home from work I stopped at Wyandotte and jogged up and down a hill in the woods. The terrain was slippery. The ground froze but it has been warm the last few days. Right now the top 1/4 inch or so of the ground is soft and sits on top of frozen ground. The top bit then slides as you run. It wasn't a big deal as long as I wasn't going up a steep part. I ran with my lamp and scared up a few Turkeys. Turkeys seem a lot bigger at night.

When I got home I rode the trainer while watching the second half of the KU-Baylor game on TV. I ran during the first half (but don't worry, I taped the game so I can watch it tomorrow).

On the trainer. My legs felt a bit of yesterday's hard running.

running 45:00 [2]

Jogging around Bonner Park trying to warm up. The wind was strong making it a bit hard to stay warm when you headed into the wind. I found a golf-disc in the woods and played a couple of holes of jogging-disc-golf as part of my jog.

After warming up, I ran a park O' course Mary designed at Bonner Park. I ran fairly hard and managed to stay warm despite the fact that the course seemed to be going into a headwind the entire time. Fun.

When I got home I spent some time on the trainer. I watched some football. Basketball makes the time pass quickly. Football doesn't.
