orienteering 50:00 [2]
12c

Vetting at Wyandotte. I checked the controls on the west side of the park using the new map (which is quite a bit worse than the old map).

running 1:10:00 [2]

Ran at Wyandotte after vetting. I climbed some hills and ran in the forest a good bit of the time. Cold out there -- about 15 and a strong wind. Still some ice out in the forest and on the trails, so in places I had to go very carefully to keep from falling. I guess I should've worn spikes.

Riding the trainer in the basement.

Note

U is for unmotivated to get out the door and run (or even to sit on the trainer in the basement). That is ok, look for plenty of good training this weekend.

running 35:00 [2]

Jogging around at SMP waiting for it to get dark. The time also includes running back to the car after the O' practice.

Night O' practice at SMP. At each control I studied the next leg for a few seconds, then ran the leg on memory. It was a fun change of pace. I decided to do it when I realized I hadn't brought a compass or magnifier. The map wasn't well printed (color copy of ink jet) and at 1:15,000 and in the dark I knew it'd be hard to read on the run. Perfect weather -- upper 50s on the tops of hills, much colder in the valleys.

Weight 167.0. I'll probably melt away as soon as I start Nadim's cookie diet (I noticed that Kenny tried his own version -- the cookies-for-breakfast-diet).

running 45:00 [2]

Hilly trail run at PNS (with a headlamp). The trail was still a bit icy. I took it pretty easy on the slick spots. I made it home in time to sit in front of the TV (instead of on the trainer) and watch the KU basketball game.

A quick 30 minutes on the trainer. My legs felt quite good.

orienteering 20:00 [4]

Sprint course at Alabama A-meet. Another good race. My legs felt good. I've been training well the last couple of months and you know what? Training works. I had a couple of small boobles, nothing too serious (but enough to finish after Tom...arrgghh). I think I like sprint orienteering.

Back to my age group. I ran the red and had another decent race. I missed one control (map seemed a bit sketchy) and had a route choice mistake. Another nice course with plenty of variety.
