running 1:10:00 [2]

I ran at Honey Creek. I carried a USGS, an orthophoto and the park map. I was hoping the woods would be nice. Mostly it was typical KC-forest. I was a bit disappointed. I stuck to trails and read the park map. The park map was remarkably decent. When I finished, I was hungry. I thought I had a couple of Clif Bars in my bag. I didn't.

After a break of maybe 15 minutes, I ran at Monkey Mountain. I carried a USGS and the park map. This time the park map was terrible. Whoever drew the trails couldn't read contours (and must have been drawing them from memory). MM is within a mile of Honey Creek. You might be able to set up a rogaine-like event using both areas. About 20 minutes into the run I was dreaming of food. About 22 minutes into the run I remembered I had a couple of granola bars in the glove compartment. Wish I'd remembered it sooner. I ran over the top of what must be Monkey Mountain. It is a decent climb (even Mook would probably consider it a climb). On the back side of MM, I was reading my map and ran into a shin-level cable stretched across the trail. I fell pretty hard.

cycling 30:00 [1]

Some easy time on the trainer.

Note

Here is my plan for the weekend. Saturday I'll head up to the St Joe area to explore a couple of areas that look like they've got potential for O'. I'll run around, checking out the forest and terrain. I'll carry USGS maps, the park maps and orthophotos. Sunday is a PTOC meet at Tall Oaks. The cours is supposed to be 9+ km. There will be a lot of controls.

Cooooold out tonight. I put on a bunch of clothes and shuffled around the neighborhood a bit (while Snorkel ran the hill at Riss Lake).

After the run, I spent some time on the trainer. I had a tape of the second half of the KU-Nebraska game to watch. Watching basketball makes the time on the trainer go a lot quicker.

My shoulder felt almost normal. So, I went for an easy jog. After two days of rest, my legs felt good. It was fun to run in a light snow. The snow started just as I left work. When I was running there was about 1/4 inch on the ground. That's not enough for "snoepulsning."

Note

I'm going to take another day off. I planned to jog a bit today, but my shoulder is sore and it hurts to move my arm. I fell in the woods on Sunday and landed a bit awkwardly. It is better today, but it is uncomfortable to move. I'll take another day off.

running 40:00 [2]

Jogging around on trails and roads at Wyandotte before and after an O' session. By the end I was tired. I've done a lot (for me at least) of stuff in the last nine days. It caught up to me. I'll take it easy this week.

Control picking at Wyandotte. My legs felt heavy at the beginning and heavier at the end. The O' was fun.
