running 45:00 [4]

Mook and I ran (and walked) at Finger Rock Canyon. This is a tough climb. The trail is steep and rocky. Even with some walks, I was working hard the entire climb.

running 40:00 [2]

After a break on Finger Rock Canyon, Mook and I ran back down the trail.

running 1:20:00 [2]

Mook and I ran up Bear Canyon. It was a good bit easier than yesterday (though it was a bit hotter).

running 1:05:00 [2]

We ran up Bear Canyon, took a break, then ran down (this entry is the running down). The heat was building and the part of the canyon with most sun was like an oven. I struggled the last 10-15 minutes.

running 1:15:00 [4]

Mook and I ran up Wasson Peak. It was tough. My hamstring (which has bothered me since I woke up Monday) was ok, but not normal. After about 25 minutes of slow running it felt better. But, that is when the climb got tough. I had to walk parts of the switchbacks. It is warm here in the Old Pueblo (upped 80s for highs).

running 1:00:00 [3]

Jogged back down from the top of Wasson Peak. We went pretty easy (stopping at a couple of places to take some snapshots). I was a bit dehydrated -- despite carrying a fair amount of water to the top -- and sufferred near the end.

running 25:00 [5]

I ran a road race (of all things). I did 4 miles in 27:43. Snorkel was a bit over a minute ahead of me. That's a good bit better than I'd expected. I expected to struggle to get under 32. It is a good bit behind where I'd have been last summer. Oh well. It was a good 3 miles further than I've run on pavement in a long time. It was also a PR! It is a soft PR, though (being the first time I've ever run a 4 miles race). Still, it bodes well -- look for a PR on the Wasson Peak Death Run.

Some time on the trainer...boring...

cycling 1:00:00 [1]

I did couple of laps of the bunny loop on my mountain bike.
