On my MTB on the roads. Most of the time I was on the bunny loop. I climbed 900 feet.

running 45:00 [2]

Ran at PNS. I threw in 3 x the rocky hill at a decent pace (2:30-2:40). My les felt tired already after two. I came across some people walking a slightly scary dog (dogs are prohibited at PNS). I also saw loads of turkeys and turkettes. After the run I grabbed my camera and tried to get some pictures. I couldn't get very close to the turkeys without scaring them away. We'll see how the pictures look. I climbed 500 feet.

running 1:05:00 [2]

A hilly run at PNS. I didn't see any turkeys, but I saw lots of forest rats and several runners. I felt better than I've felt in quite a while. Nice weather again -- about 80 and low humidity. I climbed 1000 feet.

After watching the last day of the TDF, Snorkel and I jogged around Wyandotte. Amazing weather -- low 70s and low humidity. I climbed 560 feet (16/69/15).

On the trainer while watching the TDF on TV.

Friday Jul 23, 2004 #

running 35:00 [2]

Parked my car at PNS, warmed up then ran over to English Landing. I climbed 240 feet.

running 10:00 [4]

At an honest effort (70/20s) at English Landing. Nice day for running, cloudy and just 75. I expect to feel strong, maybe even fast. I didn't. But, I felt better than I would have if it had been warmer. Snorkel put in a ten miler today. Good Snorkel. Good.

running 30:00 [2]

I jogged around at PNS. I carried my camera, hoping to get a photo of some turkeys. I saw a few, but never close enough to get a shot.

I didn't work today. I began the day by spending some time on the trainer in the basement while watching today's TDF time trial.

In the late afternoon I found myself in Lawrence. So I spent some time on the river trails. I felt good for about 20 minutes, then a bit tired for 10 minutes. At the 30 minute mark I looked at my h.rm and it was 160+ (despite a slow pace). It was hot (mid 90s) and humid (heat index 105). I guess that was the problem.

I shuffled around PNS in the heat. I saw a couple of confused looking turkeys. I cut the run short so I'd have time to mow before watching today's TDF stage. I climbed 240 feet.

I did a slow/easy run at Wyandotte in the morning before it got especially warm. I took it easy, taking breaks of 20-40 seconds to walk and get a clunk of water every 15 minutes or so. Lots of people in the park this morning -- some fishing and a big group of motorcyclists at one of the shelters. I climbed 780 feet.

cycling 1:30:00 [1]

90 minutes is a looooong time to spend on the trainer. But it didn't feel so bad because I was able to watch today's TDF stage while I rode.

Friday Jul 16, 2004 #

running 35:00 [2]

Jogging around at PNS and English Landing. I saw a group of seven young turkeys. I hadn't seen any at PNS since last year. I also saw a couple walking a cat on a leash. I climbed 180 feet.

running 10:00 [4]

An honest effort at English Landing as 70/20s.

cycling 30:00 [1]

The plan was to run at PNS and English Landing. I drove there on the way home from work, started to change and discovered I didn't have any running shoes. Once I got home (after a detour where the police had closed the road to work a crash), I decided to do some easy time on the trainer and save a PNS run for tomorrow night. Snorkel put in ten miles in the heat/humidity this morning. Inspiring, I guess.

I ran..err shuffled slowly...at PNS on the way home from work. We had the first really hot day of the year today. When I left work it was 97 with a "heat index" of 110. That's pretty warm and humid. Snorkel ran around 4 p.m. (when it would have been a bit warmer) and put in 33 minutes at SMP. I figured I should also do 33 minutes. I saw two other runners in the park, but they weren't running, they were standing in the shade watching a turkey (also standing in the shade). I climbed 240 foot.

running 1:35:00 [2]

I ran at Weston Bend. The pace was slow. I got out the door a bit later than I should have, so the temp was a bit high and it was quite humid. The last 20 minutes of so (and the last climb up the big hill) felt tough. I climbed 1100 feet.

Saturday Jul 10, 2004 #

running 1:20:00 [2]

Snorkel and I ran at Wyandotte. I never felt good. I climbed 580 feet.

Friday Jul 9, 2004 #

cycling 30:00 [1]

Some easy time while watching OLN. Tomorrow I'll run with Snorkel.

Thursday Jul 8, 2004 #

running 55:00 [2]

I ran at PNS and English Landing Park. It wasn't so hot, but it was humid. I climbed a total of 380 feet.

running 10:00 [4]

Just a bit over ten minutes at an honest effort (doing 70/20s). Uncomfortable and slow, but after taking June so easy it is time to begin to get some faster running in my legs.

Wednesday Jul 7, 2004 #

cycling 30:00 [1]

Another easy day on the trainer. Another day watching OLN TDF coverage.

Tuesday Jul 6, 2004 #

cycling 30:00 [1]

Some easy time on the trainer. I was watching some of OLN's TDF coverage, which always makes me pedal a bit faster.

Monday Jul 5, 2004 #

running 1:35:00 [2]

I ran on the river trails (muddy) in Lawrence with Fritz, Gene and Mook. We took it easy and it was fun. Near the end we started picking up the pace and it looked like we might end in a sprint. I moved from back of the pack and fought head-to-head with Fritz. I shouldered past him at a puddle (not realizing that the splashing sound I heard was Fritz falling in the puddle!). Gene declared me DQd for overly agressive running. I kept up my pace until Mook flew by me.

Sunday Jul 4, 2004 #

running 45:00 [2]

Mary and I went to PNS to jog around. We watched the live TDF coverage, so we didn't get going until it was fairly warm (with high humidity). I jogged around and included 2 x the rocky hill at a fairly decent effort (times were 2:39 and 2:32). I felt much better than yesterday.

Saturday Jul 3, 2004 #

running 1:30:00 [2]

I ran at Wyandotte before it got too warm. I didn't feel good, especially for the first hour or so. I could hear the sound of trucks and cars practicing and qualifying at the speedway.

Friday Jul 2, 2004 #

An easy half hour on the trainer.
