My legs were more shot than I expected. Mook and I didn't run hard yesterday, but I guess running in the snow was tougher than it felt. I spent half an hour on the stationery trainer -- enough to break a good sweat.
I took a vacation day and began my day with some time on the NT.

Mook and I hung tapes for a practice course at Rockcrusher. We were moving slowly through the snow. Near the end Mook, who was not wearing neoprene socks, got cold feet. ST=534.
Spinning on the rollers. I managed to avoid riding off.

Some time on the NT watching the Giants game.

"Late Night With Mook." Snow, dark, cold, and bullar. Most of the run was at an easy pace, but we pushed the pace a few times. Mary, Mook, Fritz and I were the only participants this year.
After a few days of rest, it was time to do some running. I didn't run far or fast, but the snow made it a reasonable bit of work. It was cold (10) but not windy.
I watched a bit of b-ball from the rollers (a tape of last night's KU game). I managed to ride off the rollers, but I un-clipped the pedals and grabbed the wall before I crashed.
"On paper" this looks like a very easy session. But, it was tough. I ran a course at SMP. There was snow on the ground making the running a chore. The temp was 18 when I started, 12 when I finished. The wind was a steady 20 mph, with gusts to 35. It could have been worse. I could have been a cyclocross racer. ST=520
We got 6 inches of snow today -- a lot for KC. I planned to take the day off. But, after shoveling snow for 45 minutes I couldn't resist putting on my headlamp and going for a run.
5 degrees, windy, and slippery. Lazy Spike sat next to the fireplace eating chips and salsa. I put on a ski mask, O' spikes, and layers of clothes and shuffled around the neighborhood.
I explored some of the terrain at Weston Bend. I carried the base map. There is some interesting terrain. There are some big hills. It'll be fun to explore with the new map.
Needed a day away from the office. So, I took vacation. Ran the blue course from the A-meet at Blue and Gray a few years ago. I kept a steady pace. The area has a lot of crappy woods. But, the map is good and the course was interesting. ST=493.

After some food and a break, I headed out to SMP. I ran a red course from a few years back. I pushed the pace except for the last bit when the terrain got miserable. ST=508.
I spent 20 minutes spinning on the rollers. Strained my back a bit carrying my bike and the rollers down the stair to the basement. Should have just taken the day off.
The Possum Trot at Lake Jacomo. I finished 2nd to Mook (7 minuets behind). Weather was nice -- 25-30 and no rain or snow. Maybe that is why it felt like the easiest Trot of all time. I didn't orienteer especially well, but didn't have any major booms. ST=376.
