running 1:00:00 [2]

Mary went to PNS and I tagged along. Nice conditions - steady, but not heavy, rain and cool temps (lower 60s! In June!). The cool weather meant my legs felt great.

AOWN: I saw some kalkoner.

running 45:00 [2]

Nice day - cool and rainy (though the rain had stopped by the time I ran). I met a wobbly-walking scruffy-looking tvaettbjorn on the rocky hill. I guess that'd be today's AOWN moment.

Trainer.

Wednesday Jun 27, 2007 #

running 30:00 [3]

I jogged around in a nice rain at PNS. I'd have run more if I hadn't been stuck in a meeting until 6:30.

On the trainer...burning off some of the calories from a chilled avocado soup....mmmmm...

33c

I ran 3 sprint courses at Carondolet. Carondolet is an interesting sprint/park O' venue - lots of sink holes. Fun stuff.

Sprint courses (including an "ultrasprint") at Tower Grove. Another nice venue and another fun session. Mary yelled at me near the end (but I forgive her!).

St Louis has some great places for park O'. And after you run, you can go to Crown Candy....if that is the sort of thing you like to do.

NOTE: Mary wants me to point out that she wasn't really yelling at me, she was yelling at the situation.

Two sprint courses at Forest Park. Warm weather made it feel tough even though the raw speed wasn't very high.

After the running, we grabbed a coffee and snack at a place named Kaldi (or something similar) - nice place for a post-run break (reminded me of the old days when we'd end our river trail runs at La Prima Taza).

Sprint course at Lafayette Park (a tiny city park). Lots of fun with plenty of short legs. A wedding was taking place in the middle of the park and I did my best to stay out of the way.

My legs felt a bit shot - both from the morning's sessions and walking around the art museum and zoo.

Thursday Jun 21, 2007 #

running 30:00 [2]

I ran on the trails at PNS. I planned to run more, but a combination of having some breathing trouble (allergy?) and dull legs convinced me to cut it short.

Note

The grass is dry! Time to mow.

Monday Jun 18, 2007 #

cycling 30:00 [1]

The plan was to mow the lawn. But the lawn was wet when I got home. I spent about an hour watching the weather, figuring that if the sun popped out it'd dry out enough to mow. But, that didn't happen. I guess I'll try again tomorrow.

I spent a little time on the trainer.

Sunday Jun 17, 2007 #

running 1:10:00 [2]

Jogging along the river trail in Lawrence. Nice, easy pace. The trail is in good shape.

cycling 30:00 [1]

On the trainer. Sweaty.

Saturday Jun 16, 2007 #

cycling 1:00:00 [1]

On the trainer while watching the Cubs-Padres game. The Padres are my favorite NL team (though I'm also a bit of a Cubs fan). The game featured a "bench clearing brawl" and a near no-hitter. Padres won. Time passed pretty quickly because game was good.

cycling 30:00 [3]

On the trainer.

Thursday Jun 14, 2007 #

running 30:00 [3]

Jogging at PNS. Saw some turkeys and groundhogs - nothing else.

running 10:00 [4]

Old Man Intervals. Felt pretty good.

Wednesday Jun 13, 2007 #

running 25:00 [2]

Jogged around a bit at PNS. I saw a big black snake.

Thursday Jun 7, 2007 #

running 35:00 [2]

At PNS. Interesting weather - heavy, heavy rain nearly the entire time, some low/dark clouds, and some bright sunshine. The rain was really heavy so the trails were wet (over the tops of my shoes in places).

AOWN - the usual deer and turkey and an unusual (first time in PNS) spotting of a snapping turtle.

running 10:00 [4]

Some Old Man Intervals. The slippery, wet trails kept the pace a bit slower than usual.

Wednesday Jun 6, 2007 #

Note

Mowing day.

Tuesday Jun 5, 2007 #

running 30:00 [2]

Legs felt good, but I stopped early.

Sunday Jun 3, 2007 #

running 1:35:00 [2]

Jogging on the river trail in Lawrence. I was worried that the trails would be in terrible shape after the recent flooding. I was pleasantly surprised. The upper trail was mostly normal (but the place where the trail dips down into the low spot near the Mud Creek end was under water). The lower trail was a bit muddy and I turned off it before it got too bad.

At the far end, I chatted with Larry Spray for a few minutes (he was on his new single gear, no suspension, MTB). I also ran with Mary for about 25 minutes. That was cool. She's so much fitter and stronger than she used to be (though she's got a lot of room for improvement left).

AOWN - saw a turkey on the river trail and a bald eagle when we drove across the bridge to get post run fish tacos at La Parilla. The eagle was a big surprise. It dove down from tree height to the water to pull a fish out - very cool to see.

Saturday Jun 2, 2007 #

cycling 45:00 [1]

On the trainer. For some reason the time passed quickly.

running 30:00 [2]

On the trails at PNS.

running 10:00 [4]

Old man intervals 3 x 3:20. My mind didn't feel very good, but my legs did.

Friday Jun 1, 2007 #

running 30:00 [2]

I was on my way to PNS and decided to drive by the park in Riverside and see if it was still closed. It was open. So, I jogged around the Riverside park with the basemap. I think it'll make a fun (but little) sprint O' area.
