running 15:00 [2]

Jogging to warm up.

WP M40. Another fun course. I saw a lot of Hillary out in the forest.

My foot was mostly ok, but I twisted an ankle on a downhill (despite going down very slowly). The ankle wasn't much trouble on the course - slowed me a bit for a control or 2. But it swelled up on the flight home. Might have to run with an Active Ankle in Michigan next weekend.

Jogging around in the forest to warm up.

West Point M40 course. Fun and much less hilly than I'd expected.

Foot started hurting near the end - no apparent reason.

Sprint course at Camp Buckner. Really fun with lots of very short legs around the buildings.

I jogged around for 5 minutes to see how my foot would feel and decided I'd just run the course and hope it was ok. I started a bit slow and it felt mostly ok.

orienteering 40:00 [2] *****

Parked at Tiorati Circle and spent a bit of time jogging around in the rain and fog. FUN FUN FUN.

Note

No running, but I did a little field checking today:

orienteering 55:00 [2] *****

I went back to Surebridge. I re-ran a few legs from yesterday, taking different routes. I spent some time just running around reading the map. I spent more time walking around reading the map. I was out for a little over 2 hours, but only running legs for a bit over 55 minutes.

Warm out there (mid 80s and sunny). I should have carried more water.

Fun.

running 10:00 [2]

Just a little bit of jogging to break a sweat.

orienteering race 1:09:00 [4] *****

Another day at Surebridge. I felt much better than yesterday. Ran better, felt more comfortable, navigated better. Fun stuff.

Surebridge M40. Fun, but not a good performance. The avg. h.r. was higher than I'd have expected - maybe the warm and sun?

cycling 30:00 [1]

On the trainer. I watched a National Geographic show about private security contractors on Iraq. Interesting.

Tuesday Apr 17, 2007 #

running 50:00 [2]

Jogging at PNS. Really nice day for a run.

running 10:00 [4]

3 x 3:20 old man intervals. I'm pretty sure this was the fastest set of old man intervals I've ever run. That was a surprise. Maybe it was just a good day. Or maybe it was the effect of some recent training. Or maybe it was the new shoes.

Oh my gosh! As I'm typing this entry, the Royals just took the lead against the Tigers. KC is up 6-5! Go ROYALS!

Monday Apr 16, 2007 #

cycling 30:00 [1]

A little on the trainer.

On the way home from work I bought some new running shoes -- New Balance MR810. They feel quite good.

Sunday Apr 15, 2007 #

running 1:30:00 [2]

Slow jogging at Wyandotte - moderately hilly. I didn't feel very good, but it was fun to be out.

PTOC 2-hour score O' at Knob Noster (what a great place to orienteer). The forest was a bit wet -- a little snow and a bunch of rain over the last day or two.

Eric B. thrashed me (12+ minutes faster).

The meet had a bit of an 80s-flashback feel to it. Sharon Crawford and Grafton Potter were there (though Grafton didn't go out because he didn't like the weather).

Friday Apr 13, 2007 #

running 30:00 [2]

Easy jogging in the cold rain at PNS. The forecast for tomrrow is for snow!

Thursday Apr 12, 2007 #

Note

Allegries? Something is not right. I'll hope things are better tomorrow.

Wednesday Apr 11, 2007 #

cycling 30:00 [1]

A sweaty half hour on the trainer.

Tuesday Apr 10, 2007 #

running 1:10:00 [2]

Hilly trail run at Wyandotte. Nice running weather (mid 40s and steady light rain).

I saw another white squirrel! That was quite a surprise.

Sunday Apr 8, 2007 #

running 1:15:00 [2]

At Wyandotte on The Hobo and then on the old road along the rr tracks. I threw in 3 x 3 short sprints. I'm definitely getting faster (and feeling better) at these short sprints. I'm not sure that is worth anything, but it is always fun to experiment a bit.

Saturday Apr 7, 2007 #

running 1:00:00 [2]

Ran at Clinton SP on the way to Dad and Pam's for dinner. The cool weather felt great.

3 x 100 LAMs at Clinton. The woods are getting a bit thick, so I took routes that minimized my time in the woods. Fun.

Friday Apr 6, 2007 #

cycling 30:00 [1]

30 on the trainer (watching the Dog Whisperer). 10 minutes later, I felt like crap (head and stomach). Had a bit of soup. Went to bed. Slept 11+ hours. Feel much better now.

Thursday Apr 5, 2007 #

running 35:00 [2]

Easy jogging at PNS. Perfect running temp - just over 40.

running 10:00 [4]

Old man intervals at PNS. Running didn't feel good, but I was moving relatively well.

Wednesday Apr 4, 2007 #

cycling 30:00 [1]

I probably should have been mowing the lawn, but instead I rode the trainer.

Tuesday Apr 3, 2007 #

running 1:15:00 [2]

Moderately hilly run at Wyandotte. Nice weather for running - low 50s and a cool wind. Quite a change from yesterday's 80s.

I probably should have run a bit longer.

Sunday Apr 1, 2007 #

running 1:10:00 [2]

After a cup of coffee with the Funks, I drove out to Kill Creek and ran around. Most of this was on trails as the forest was looking jungle like.

By the end I was feeling hungry.

orienteering 35:00 [2] ***

At Kill Creek - physically easy, but fairly intense map reading (350 LAMs). Fun and interesting.
