Work commute.

Tonight is the last home basketball game. I could enjoy a longer basketball season, but I'll be glad when the crappy-basketball-game-traffic is over for the season.

Note

A few notes about my new Garmin toy:

Mary (with some help from DH) got me a Forerunner 35 as a birthday gift. I like it.

Cool features: 1-second recording; bluetooth connection to phone for easy access to the data; looks a bit geeky, but not so much like a GPS; better menus than my other Garmin; measures cadence; and wrist-based h.r.

The heart rate monitor seems to work ok, but it has a specific limitation. It doesn't pick up changes quickly. It seems accurate for things like the overall average of a run, but you wouldn't want to use it to keep a careful eye on something like how quickly your h.r. drops after an interval. That said, the watch also works with a chest strap (which I've got) and with the chest strap it responds quickly.

I haven't done a lot to check the GPS accuracy. Informal tests (like seeing how well it lines up on Quickroute or Routegadget) suggest that it is similar to my other Garmin (XT910).

It has a fun feature based on the accelerometer (I think). It guesses what you are doing. I biked to the water plant for a meeting. When I downloaded the watch, it picked up that activity and labelled it as biking. It does a good job of picking out my lunch hour walks (though once it seemed to think I was on an elliptical trainer).
