To the start

Orienteering 1:52:05 [4]

Euromeeting long

Less happy with this performance than the other two, mistakes started to creep in, but it wasn’t bad at all! 3 or 4x 30-40secs.

Felt tired and struggled mentally at times, especially in the middle but pulled it back later after a while (after 80-85mins crossing the road towards no15).

Note

Im pretty happy with the way I performed this weekend, I orienteered well and was able to focus on the job at hand. Hopefully I showed I can do alright agaist some of the British lads and maybe even get selected for some other stuff. I understand this is not really what the squad needs or wants, but for me its one step forward. So I'll just carry on working and see what I can do in the future.

This was a good chance to really learn a lot of lessons, see where I am now and how to go forward.
Feel Im orienteering is good with a few smaller things to work on (less "S-ing" the line, Looking up more/ trying to see futher and checking my compass a bit more often)
But the main weakness was speed or fitness? not sure if i just wasnt fast enough or if I couldnt hold the higher work rate? but I'll have a think and work on some stuff in the next few weeks + over winter

Euromeeting chasing start

Again Im pleased with this race.

After the prologue the start list was a long line of guys stating very close together, one going off at least one every 10secs, then I had a gap ahead of me of over 30secs. So basically it was a long train that I couldn’t see the back of. But I was ok with that because I thought I would probably catch some places when others made mistakes. And I had 3 Brits starting just after me and another two not that far behind them and it felt more of a competition to beat them all back.

No real big time losses and manage to stay a head of the british lads and hold my position. I was quite a lot slower than the guys a head of my but that’s mainly because I did all my own orienteering and didn’t really get into a group or have chance to use other guys (although I was with Will and Nathan a bit but I felt I was mainly in front when we was together).

Euromeeting prologue

Pretty happy with this race.

People seemed to enter this race in a mindset of one of two camps, either go for it hard and risk a bit more because the position in the chase was really important or like me be safe because in such a short race any time loss add up quite a lot? Whether my tactic was right or not I don’t know but I achieved my goal at least, no really time losses and perform well at a race with a new type of pressure.

Tour de lillomarka

Feeling tired today
No 1 + 2 up a massive hill and after yesterday I thought "oh no what have I let myself in for" but actually really nice forest very easy under foot.
Again I was really good when I plan properly and concentrate. But I was a bit daft when rushing and not concentrating
