running race 8:28 [3] 1.0 mi (8:28 / mi)

Ran the Mississippi Mile on the Chain of Rocks Bridge hosted by the St. Louis Track Club and TrailNet and sponsored by Big River Running Company (Ben Rosario et alii). Even 'though I walked for 5 minutes and then jogged for about 15 to warm up, I apparently went out too fast and felt totally awful while running and had to walk four times. The same problem that feels like I have trouble getting oxygen to my muscles that I have sometimes when I go up steps and get winded and my quads plea for oxygen. Sometimes when I run, it's my upper arms that feel oxygen-deprived. Felt fine afterwards. I guess I just have to start more slowly in order to feel OK so I can keep running. If I were just starting out in running and felt this awful, I would quit. But I mostly enjoy runnning, so I will have to learn how to start more slowly. Crazy. I have had all sorts of cardiovascular and pulmonary tests and the doctors say all is OK.

progressive resistance machines 15:00 [1]

Did a little upper body workout at the Y. Hadn't done the machines in quite a while, like 6-8 weeks.

bicycling 1:30:00 [2]

Biked to Y. After short workout, biked to St. Louis Track Club office nearby to drop off registration for the Mississippi Mile. Then biked to and around Forest Park and to and through Tower Grove Park to get home.

running 36:00 [2]

Ran Tower Grove Park (3 miles) and then home (0.5 mile?). Hadn't run for a week or so because my R foot was bothering me some. Felt fine. Started off slowly.
