Note
I planned to ride my new bike around the 25 mile Green Circle in Stevens Point today -- first ride. I pumped up the tires after lunch, but when I went to get the bike to ride at 3pm, the back tire was flat. I knew there was a bike shop less than half mile away, so I walked it there to have them fix it. To my surprise the guy said he could maybe fix it tomorrow, which meant maybe the day after that. It would be a 10 minute fix for them, and they couldn't do it for a day or two??? There were at least three guys working there and the store was not busy -- I don't get it. This is a town that is trying to attract bike tourists? I bought a tube and tire spoons and changed it myself.
The other tube had been punctured by the sharp edge of a spoke hole in the rim. It should have been covered by the fancy tape inside the rim, but one was missed. I put a piece of plastic over it and then put in the tube. I then rode 29 miles on it and it held. I'll make a better fix in the next couple days before I go riding on single track at Standing Rocks.
