Note

Just pulled a piece of glass out of my heel, hopefully it was the last one. Its been stuck in there for pretty much a month and a half, since a bit of a regrettable first year in res kind of night.

Doctors somehow didn't notice it on the first night it was in there, after giving me stitches on the other cut ??

still nice to know I beat everyone last weekend with glass in my foot ;) and that defos cant be an advantage

Rode to fountains and then couldnt get into groenkloof nature reserve cos i Had no moolah.. so back to res i went. was slow cos of stopping for crossing roads and robots and shit

Day 2

Started first. Took a couple of controls to get into working hard and navigating properly.

lost a bit of time to 1, not coming in from the right angle and height and not sure which boulder it was on. 2 was all right just unsure of which bush to run to. 6 was an epic control, could see the actual control from 5, just had to drop 4 contours into the valley and then climb ten to get there. 8 was my stuff up of the day, was opening my lead until this control. definitely do not agree with the map in this area, should have just used the valley next to me more. lost like 5 minutes on this one and my lead. Nic got here first and led off to 9 where he got away a bit more. about a minute. pushed up the next hill, about 40 seconds back at 10, pushed hard on the road to 2 and took a straighter route accross the valley and thru the green shit. got out just behind him. 13 I took the lead on and got first.

14 Nic took a good route and i took a shit one just going straight and not using either of the two roads beside me. rest of the course was too easy for nic to beat me could just follow the powerlines.

so won the 2 days overall.

First proper run since SA champs,

2 days of orienteering with chasing starts on the second day got me excited and keen for the win :)

Pushed hard for the whole course, with Mike 3 minutes behind me at the start I had to get going early.

Quality route to one, hectic slog up to 4 and 5, contoured accross to 6 but ended up high on a very similar feature, luckily saw the control lower down. lost time on ten going low on the line of boulders which slowed me down a shit load. 12 was just a mission, saw paul and nico going up as i was coming down. slow close to 14 had a look at the wall early on, 15 fine, just chasing paul down.

Got the win by 3 minutes and a bit,

Epic Game of banquet hall footie,

pretty much no rules, except ur not allowed to use your hand and you can't take out the keeper. Its fair game for the outfielders.

Feeling pretty happy at the moment cos I have popped the blister on my heel which was giving me the most grief, and now my foot is FFressh! keen to get back to running soon, but I think I first need to stretch my achilles some, and keep on with the cycling at least for a bit

Awesome ride around pretoria, Wanted to ride inside of faerie glen nature reserve, but got there and learnt that no cycling is allowed in there, so I decided Id try running again, so ran inside for 3 minutes then came back to the bike. Still Cant run properly. Frustrating.

Then rode around the suburbs a bit and up a massive hill !! got pretty lost on the way back to res

Hilly route around the neighbourhood linking up all the trails i can ride on. so not too much road.

Definitely think I could have a future in professional downhill MTB !
