Running race 5:21 [3] 1.5 km (3:34 / km)
shoes: Asic spikes

We made the 1.5 into a team sport. We decided to do some tour de france slip streaming to psyche out the other teams. It didnt really work but I was happy about my result.

Running race (800m) 2:32 [4] 0.8 km (3:10 / km)
shoes: Asic spikes

Started off comfortably and lifted it for the second half. I saw Chad Haefele ahead and couldnt let him beat me.

Note

School has been pretty fun these last 2 days :)

The tour de France is taking up most of my time these days.. It's getting exciting. Watching it makes me want to do the 94.7 but it just sux that I dont have a road bike... I dont kno if it would make much difference to a MTB, It would still be fun tho. Mayb I should do the 40km MTB, or not. :)

Tomorrow is our intertribe athletics day, Im running 1500 and 800. Its gna be killer.

Running 9:00 [3] 1.85 km (4:52 / km)
shoes: Montrail Highlanders

Went for an easy run up around the neighbourhood.. getting the legs ready for tough running tomorrow.

Note

Wanted to do about three fast tempo + - 120m to get ready for tomorrow.
Only did one though.

I struggled running in the beginning, my knees and now a hip is sore. :( I.m glad Im not running 2moro. We all played badly. I really enjoyed it, you can enjoy yourself so much more when ur not playing other schools. The Game was tight but they managed to pull off a 10-0 victory.

Note
(rest day)

I worked out that during only the JWOC week I did 30km of competition orienteering :) That is pretty hectic.

Today I tried to go for a run but failed miserably. My knees are in pain when I try to run :(

Orienteering race (Relay) 58:28 [4] **** 6.5 km (9:00 / km) +285m 7:23 / km
shoes: Montrail Highlanders

Relay..

I was paired up with 2 Germans who had done very well in the week. The one was the EYOC sprint champion. They had great runs and handed it over to me ahead of the first German team. After a slow start in the first six losing about 2 minutes, I couldnt keep the lead and was caught by Cristophe Brandt after 15 of the controls. We made slightly different route choices to 16 and I came out too low with lots of climb to the control. He got away from me the next two controls. After that I made one mistake and lost a bit of time. I enjoyed it a lot and loved the relay atmosphere. The orienteering didnt start off too well in the beginning of the week but got much better and more enjoyable towards the end. :)

Orienteering race (Middle final) 25:00 [4] **** 2.8 km (8:56 / km) +100m 7:35 / km
shoes: Montrail Highlanders

A great run :)

much better than the rest of the week. I did still have a bad control where I lost focus and lost abt 1:30 maybe.

Got beaten by a canadian and an American by 4 and 6 seconds.... I Shouldv run faster at the finish.

Orienteering race 47:21 [4] 4.4 km (10:46 / km) +155m 9:09 / km
shoes: Montrail Highlanders

Middle Heats

The first part of the race was not so good. At numba 3 I made a bad route choice which led to a mistake. I lost 8 minutes on that control. It got better as the race went on..

SNOW

Went up a mountain for the rest day and found snow on the top :)
The South African team took on Russians and Germans. There was also some in fighting, me getting nailed a couple of times.

Orienteering race (LONG) 2:14:06 [3] **** 9.5 km (14:07 / km) +440m 11:28 / km
shoes: Montrail Highlanders

Long event..

Was aiming for a under 2 hour run. Started off pretty slowly and kind of stayed that way. I was having and found snow around seven and at the control at 8 :) I then made a snowball and threw it at the swede just behind me. I blame that bit of fun for the 20 mins.

I struggled with the orienteering hardly spiking any. I am happy to say that I spiked the control in the middle of the butterfly the second and third time.

I enjoyed myself but I hope the orienteering gets better for the middle :)

Orienteering race (SPRINT) 20:40 [5] **** 3.1 km (6:40 / km) +80m 5:54 / km
shoes: Montrail Highlanders

sprint...

I was trying to keep up with the Italian chick I started with off the starting blocks and so I got a bit confused. I was quite slow for the first five controls and my minute man caught me going to six. I made a 2 minute mistake at number 9 which was a bugger.

I won the finish sprint :)
