Took the first a bit chilled and no real route to 7 so not too serious.

Gauteng Long Champs

Started nicely, little hesitation on 6 and 7.

on the way to 7, got told that controls had been stolen and the courses would be voided. Was still keen to push seeing as we don't often get nice long races. 9 and 10 were the stolen ones, still couldn't push as hard after that.

Nice area and good course.

Gauteng Middle Champs WRE

Pretty keen, and started quite well, running smoothly up till 10 where I stuffed up badly, bit of indecision early on in the leg, which lead to me not picking my planned route and attempting a different one that seemed better at the time but really wasn't. Then a bit compounded because of no attempt at relocation and headless chicken running.

Messed up 13 and 15 a bit, smashed 19 and struggled up the hill to the finish, didn't have much left for the finish split.. Won by 16 secs in the end.

Really cool new map, and nice running in blue gum for a change.

Legs felt a bit like a new born gazelles after not running for a while,

Decent area, start went pretty well, stuffed up badly in the park area, everyone had a bad day really. First half was nice and technical.

Keen for tomorrow.

The Wilds...

Started off pretty quickly, lost maybe 5 secs to the first taking the right route choice, then pretty perfect to 8, probably pushing too early, but I like pushing early and trying to hang on anyway. In my tiredness up to 9 I took the wrong path and almost got to 10 before 9. Rookie error.

15 and 21 not so good, but felt pretty fast, died a bit on the second half.

Think I maybe should have run with a compass, could've solved some of my issues. Good run though, and an interesting area anyway, pretty tough to get a clean run at the wilds.

Got beaten on the finish split :'(

Had planned on doing 4 1000's but chickened out half way through the first, so ended up doing 6x 500m with ~1:30 rest in between.

Did them on the grass next to the river mostly, so the first 4 were all pretty easy downhill ones, the last 2 were pretty tough.

To cowley and down then along the spruit to start of the bryanston parkrun, bit of a tempo back along the parkrun route to the bridge.

Carry on along the spruit, crossed the river which took a while and then up witkoppen to the playgroung and home.
