Orienteering race 51:39 [4] *** 5.1 km (10:08 / km)
shoes: orienteering shoes

Day 2. Control 1 was really fast, but I ran several circles around control 2 before actually locating it...I had originally intended to go around a valley, then decided halfway through that it wasn't very steep and I could go through it (possibly b/c of the 3m contours?). So I changed my route halfway through, over-corrected, and saw another control. I ran straight toward the control and of course it was the wrong one....

Anyway, controls 3,4,5 were fast, control 6 was fast but I had a slightly silly route, I made a slight parallel error on control 7, controls 8 and 9 were fast, on control 10 I mistook a cliff for a road, and controls 11 and 12 were short.

Overall, much messier run than Friday and Saturday, but I think I was running much faster to make up for it :-/.

Orienteering race 44:37 [4] *** 5.13 km (8:42 / km)
shoes: orienteering shoes

I think this is the correct time, but I'm not sure of the seconds since results aren't up yet.

Anyways, interscholastics Day 1. Another fairly clean, fairly fast run. I made a mistake on the eighth control. It was in a trail network, and I have a bad habit of losing concentration along trails because they should be simple and easy routes. I'm not sure how much time I lost here (I'll check on winsplits if they're posted soon), but it was fairly reasonable.

The weather was good during my run, but later in the morning a downpour started...it was kind of exciting, until I decided to stand at the edge of the tent, and all the runoff landed on my head :-).

Orienteering race (sprint) 15:57 [4] *** 2.3 km (6:56 / km) +65m 6:05 / km
shoes: orienteering shoes

Sprint at Interscholastics. I had a clean run, with some hesitation on the second control being the only time loss. Visibility was really good in the woods, which simplified navigation. There were also a lot of small buildings and man-made features scattered throughout the trees that were nice to check off. It felt controlled and fast. It was really hot, though, so I jumped in the lake afterwards.
