4:40 PM. Cycling: Indoor.

Hamstring still noticeable-doesn't hurt-just a little tight. Going to wait a few more days before I try to run again.
Just an easy session at level 3 resistance.
Boring- but done.
HR readings at beginning haywire as well as a few hiccups during the ride.

10:21 AM. Recovery run.

Well-too early to start back up again. First few minutes felt fine- but then started noticing a tightness in my left hamstring again. Tolerable, and not painful, but definitely there.
Got passed by a man and his dog- getting passed doesn't happen to me much these days, so I was curious/ (jealous?) how fast he was running. I sped up to match his speed, and found he was running around 4:45 pace...so not much faster than I was running. Backed it back down to my normal easy pace. About 200 metres later, the tightness in my hamstring was worse. Ended up stopping at 30' instead of running all the way back home as planned- around 10' longer. Going to have to give this a few more days at least to get better.

9:30 AM. Teillay. Half Marathon Time Trial.

Since last week was an easy long run, I thought I'd try to test my fitness for my birthday by running the 1/2 marathon course.
Started out feeling well- pace had to be held back-felt unusually comfortable. First 7.1 km went fine- Seemed like I was going in the wrong direction though to start, and sure enough, the course took me in an opposite direction from Ercée.
Another hiccup going into Ercée- not well marked with the arrows as to how to arrive, ended up coming in on the same path as I would be leaving on- since I followed the voie verte, when the arrows didn't indicate to turn there, but didn't say to go straight either.
Shortly after the climb out of Ercée- started feeling the first twinges of a a cramp in my left hamstring-which unfortunately continued to get tighter and tighter- after about 2-3 km I stopped- tried to rub it out- walk it out-stretch it out to no avail- called for a ride home...oh well- birthday 1/2 marathon turned into a good long tempo run. Most of the run was around between 4'50 and 5' pace- so happy with the effort, and pretty sure if I hadn't had the cramp I'd have finished at that pace or stronger.
