Misc (Leaf raking) 2:30:00 [1]
slept:4.0 shoes: Vasque Blur

This is pathetic....

Felt like Tinman from Oz minus the oil last night. Probably looked pretty silly hobbling around. Both knees were barking along with the quads. Spent a lot of the night awake with annoying dry cough.

Knee wouldn't support weight last night, especially when flexed, couldn't do stairs. Was stiff this morning but was able to walk after a little loosening up. Won't be kneeling anytime soon. Some swelling. Stairs are noticeable but doable.

Shoulder doesnt hurt unless I try to carry something or reach high. Clicks when I use a kayak paddle motion.

Heels felt better than expected this morning. No real soreness in the left, right just a touch more so than before the run.

Orienteering race (Red Course) 1:35:07 [5] *** 7.5 km (12:41 / km) +300m 10:34 / km
spiked:10/12c slept:8.0 weight:164lbs shoes: Montrail Vitesse #2

A beautiful fall day at Meramec State Park. A good turnout too.

Had planned to run the green course, I didn't really think I had a red in me since I don't think I've run 10 miles since June, but succumbed to relentless peer pressure and ran the red.... A fun course with a lot of big climbs.

I finished 4th behind Eric (67ish), Rob (85ish), and Matt S (94:35).

Ran about as cleanly as any course I've done. Bad execution of route choice on #1 cost me 2 or 3 minutes and then 30 seconds on #7 because I was a little below the control. Spiked the rest. Felt like I was reading map and features extremely well and very effortlessly.

As expected, I started running out of gas about half way through the course. Walked the up's, tried to run the downs.

Bodily abuse.... Fell 3 times: once not so bad, 2nd time between 10 & 11 slammed knee on rock- that hurt, 3rd - ditch along road just before 12 deeper than expected - face planted onto asphalt - cut hand on compass and jammed left shoulder. See how all the parts feel tomorrow....

Walking (Evening Walk) 25:00 [1]
shoes: Vasque Blur

With L & C

Note

Made another 9 Qts of applesauce today.... Lot faster with 2 people! Only took 4 hours.

Cardio (AMT) 45:00 [3]
slept:8.0 shoes: ASICS #3

Another trip to the Y for some exercise and steam.

AMT felt pretty good.

Can walk on heels today (with shoes on). Ironically, the left heel still hurts more than the right. Maybe I'm just less sensitive to the pain in the right since I've been putting up with it for 6 months.

Cardio (AMT) 35:00 [3]
slept:8.0 weight:165lbs (sick) shoes: ASICS #3

Figured a little activity on the AMT would be good for the sinuses and the heels. It was.

Spent 10 minutes in the steam room too.
