Teering race (Aus Champs) 41:28 [5] 5.42 km (7:39 / km) +73m 7:10 / km
shoes: Inov8 XTalon 190

Borhoney Ghurk, Relay, M55 1st leg. Another bad start, lost two minutes at the first when my compass failed and I ended up right of my spur instead of left. Had a lot of trouble running, legs tired sans zip. Got moving from 7 to 8 to get away from Gordon and Nick. Finished 3rd on the course, but a fair bit down on the leaders (Geoff and Paul P). Russell and Rob brought the team back to second - well done!

shoes: Inov8 XTalon 190

Chapel Flat, Long Distance, Okm 6.3km/180. M55, 4th. A bit sad when I picked up the map and saw all the spur-gully. A bit hilly for my level of fitness. No mistakes as such, just slow. Really struggled up the last hill, like most others.

Teering race (Aus Champs) 11:50 [5] **** 2.54 km (4:39 / km) +1m 4:39 / km
shoes: ASICS DS Racer

St Patricks College, Ballarat. M55, Okm 2.2, 3rd. Blew it at the map change. Watching the elites I had already decided to not stop and look at the map change, but just to keep running and take the right hand route choice (which didn't involve turning around and hurdling the fence up hill). So I was 4 seconds down in second place when I got there and....... Stopped, looked, turned around and couldn't hurdle the fence uphill so stumbled over it. Geoff exploited that with a 22 second gain on that leg, and I finished 17 seconds down on him, and 33 behind Warren.
With the poor lead up I guess I am happy to be competitive.

Teering warm up/down 12:38 [2] 3.0 km (4:13 / km)
shoes: ASICS DS Racer

E with Aoife after, warm up before. Aoife did well, all by herself except for running the wrong way out of the start triangle.

MTB 1:55:00 intensity: (1:00:00 @2) + (45:00 @3) + (10:00 @4) 29.0 km (3:58 / km) +300m 3:46 / km

Nerrina - Lake Wendouree return. Put the bike under pressure in Nerrina and it failed the test: a couple of gear slips and lots of not responding to gear change. Hopefully tightening the cables up will fix. At least the crank didn't fall off.

Cycling (MTB) 2:20:00 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (1:15:00 @2) + (25:00 @3) + (10:00 @4) 29.64 km (4:43 / km) +298m 4:30 / km

Ballarat - Skipton Rail Trail (part) with the girls. Seat rail snapped after 3km. Then left crank/pedal fell off 5km from the finish. Cath got it back on, but it fell off again 1km later. Did the last 4km with one leg.

MTB 30:00 intensity: (15:00 @1) + (10:00 @2) + (5:00 @3) 10.0 km (3:00 / km) +50m 2:56 / km

Nerrina - Ballarat return. Legs returning to normal, but still heavy. Couldn't run yesterday, which was a pity as it looked like a good campus sprint map. The times were super quick. Hayfever still an issue.
My solution to the gears slipping issue - a new Shimano XTR drivetrain. However it failed its first test; gear slipped on first steep hill attempt. May need tweaking.
Technically - dura-ace 11 speed - new gear shifters, chain, XTR - crankset M9020 34/24, cassette 11 speed 11/40, bottom bracket, derailleurs ($1394) and pedals - Shimano XTR
