Big Foot run at Lane Cove, except they did the loop and I did Fairyland. Used tape on left knee, and between that and the ITB rolling,no twinges at all.

Training is paying off! Both hill pbs today, best since 2 years ago - Akuna East 9:58 (only 3 seconds better, but still) and McCarrs 7:51 (12 seconds off). On Akuna, stayed with Nick and Marcel till 500m to go, went for a break and then faded. On McCarrs, slowly reeled in Cam,who had a huge break at the bottom. Led out the group from Forrest Way to the Showgrounds, had to cover a break from Nick and had nothing left for Snives. Through Gordon-Lindfield got on this really quick dudes wheel, just hanging on.

Test ride for new shoes/pedals (good); for niggly left knee (OK riding, trouble ahead for running); eye injury sustained this am (should be OK,still stinging a bit); whether the weir was running (it was); and how far it is to school (to see if Aoife can get a bus pass).

Hastily aborted exploration of the area below UTS as another hailstorm rolled in. Seeing if I could get down to Lane Cove weir. Looks possible; the fire scar looks like it ended on an old path.
Note the start and end of the GPS trace are WAY off.

Hunters Hill (Sugarloaf). I've been in some dangerous situations while orienteering but this one tops the lot. I've been in horizontal hail on top of White Mountain near Djouce, fallen in bog holes, gone into marshes that were deeper than expected, been hung up on rhododendron and blackberries, been in a white out on Lugnaquilla and deep snow elsewhere, but tonight I was scared witless.
About 30 minutes in a storm hit. Running down the street suddenly there is this blinding flash and an instantaneous clap of thunder. I didn't actually see the strike, but it had to be very very close. After that I just wanted to get to the finish as quick as possible, while staying out of any open spaces and keeping my knees up. Difficult when the streets had turned to rivers.
Well I made it.
