MTB Orienteering 1:27:00 [3] * 16.8 km (5:11 / km) +350m 4:41 / km
spiked:3/5c

Poland. After the Relay, got a loan of Caths bike, Nice forest. Slow but easy going. All the controls in by the time I got around. Felt slow.

Teering 54:05 [3] ** 8.53 km (6:20 / km) +180m 5:44 / km
spiked:9/9c shoes: ASICS Kayano 14

WMTBO Middle area. Dodgy tracks at 12 where Cath and Mel each lost 4 minutes. Still coughing and can feel rib, but neither an excuse to not train. Legs felt tired and slow - haven't recovered from that last run.

Teering (WMTBO Model) 30:06 [3] ** 5.6 km (5:23 / km) +100m 4:56 / km
spiked:1/1c (sick) shoes: ASICS Kayano 14

Cold on the wane; hope this run doesn't give me a relapse

Saturday Aug 23, 2008 #

Note
(sick)

Cold finally reached chest. At least that's progress.

Note - my last run turns out to be the longest training run I've been on since I started logging on AP in Jan 07.

Running 1:06:00 [3] 10.9 km (6:03 / km) +50m 5:55 / km
(injured) (sick) shoes: ASICS Kayano 14

No voltaren, so I could feel the rib pain - wasn't too bad. Meant to take the map, but instead relied on the GPS. After 4.5km I was 500m from home on my 5km run, but found I was on the wrong side of the lake. Tried to go around for a while but abandoned. Walked the last bit.

Note
(injured) (sick)

Cold back in force - bad night. Its still restricted to the nose, most unusual.

Swimming 3:00 [2] 0.1 km (30:00 / km)

Swimming warm up/down 3:00 [1] 0.1 km (30:00 / km)
(injured) (sick)

Kosowo. Rib still too sore to run but improving. Cold has remained in nose and appears to be on the mend. Water too cold to continue.

Running 36:28 [3] ** 5.9 km (6:11 / km) +30m 6:02 / km
(injured) (sick) shoes: ASICS Kayano 14

Cold in recession, took Voltaren before I went to dull the rib pain. Felt pretty good in the run, probably coz I was running so slowly.

Swimming (Water Running) 5:00 [1] 0.2 km (25:00 / km)
(injured) (sick)

Note
(injured) (sick)

Picked up another cold on the flight over. In the nose first couple of nights. Rib injury still hurts to move, but have stepped down the Voltaren.

Teering race (Mt Obs south) 33:57 [4] *** 4.85 km (7:00 / km) +100m 6:21 / km
spiked:7/9c (injured) shoes: Innov8 Mudclaw 270

Relays - 2nd leg - 15th, team dropped 6 places to 9th. Straight line was 3.4km / 65m. Actually running OK despite lack of any training to speak of and the sore rib. However got caught out on a boulder at no. 2 and lost 6 minutes, found a few other controls which helped. Failed to get the right direction from my massive attack point, and failed to precisely locate where I was on the AP anyway. Then dropped 2 contours on the contouring approach to 4 and missed the area entirely. Lost 3.5 mins relocating.

Teering race (Mt Obs South) 27:04 [4] *** 4.1 km (6:36 / km) +70m 6:05 / km
spiked:7/8c (injured) shoes: Innov8 Mudclaw 270

Relays - 4th leg - straight line 3.4km / 60m. Pulled up two places to 7th. Slower running, back/rib was sore in this one. Missed the easiest control on the course by 20m - no. 6 - and failed to relocate quickly despite seeing a really obvious boulder in yellow - lost 2 minutes.

Overall very enjoyable outing; excellent courses made good use of a very pleasant area.
