Running race 1:19:00 [4] 10.0 mi (7:54 / mi) +1000m 6:02 / mi

Ballybraid Horseshoe - another hill race win. A bit W, tired on Carriglineen. Kind of a training run - never under very much pressure. Although I took it fairly easy up the first hill, legs felt fairly tired - no bounce. Got a bit stronger later and when Maurice and M Deasy fell back on heather I decided to up the pace down to Derrybawn. However, couldn't shake Mick, so I let him go by. As planned he climbed unnecessarily on Cullenagh and we got to the top together. I stopped for a piss and he practically had to wait. Applied pressure on the last hill and that was that.

Galtees. Very steep, Temple Hill knocked the stuffing out of me - 3rd to the top just behind P Gargan. Ran out of energy a little going up Galtymore, a lot coming down Galteebeg. Just eased down and tried to maintain stride. Didn't put on any pressure on Galteebeg or Cush and Peter pulled away 5 minutes. Murph did 1:47, but missed a punch.

Cabinteely - Shankhill. 2 miles in the Park as well. Lower back sore. Lost co-ordination a bit after an hour. Still - 7 min. miles.

Cabinteely. 40 minutes on hiills. Felt easy, relaxed, powerful. In good condition.

Clonliffe/BLE Gala. 800m - 4th again, 1:54.1. Went off too slow although I had the position I wanted at the back. Bell in 56-57, I then surged and got up to 4th by 200, just couldn't make any more progress. Style went completely at the end.

Dundrum Sports. A disaster - 4th in 1:54.3. Nearly missed the start; they were lining up before I pinned my number or put on my spikes. Thought it was 45 minutes later. I had been jogging but had done no strides or stretching. Relaxed too much around the last bend behind GM and EP as Spellman kicked past before going around in the straight. A wasted opportunity. 1 Frank O'Mara 1:48.4, 2 R Shanahan 1:49.55, 3 T Spellman 1:53.05, 4 E R 1:54.3, 5 G Mullen, 6 E Palmer.
