Midnattsolsgaloppen, Day 1, M55 12th. Krokvatnet, Sorreisa. Okm 5.3. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Could not muster any drive at all. Steep and soggy but wonderful terrain. The eventual winner caught me by 2 minutes at no. 1, steep uphill. Then I had a bit of a battle with one guy who I had passed at 2, but left me for dead on another climb to 3. I reeled him back in when it got flatter and then he made another mistake. Great orienteering, but where is my fitness?

Allambie Heights, Metro League, Div. 2. Ran off the map before no. 1. When I got back on the map I arrived at a 5-way junction, so I thought I was still off the map, because there were none marked. I wasn't - stood still for one and a half minutes placing myself at the 4-way junction that was on the map. Then I overshot the control when I eventually did go off down the right track. Not a great start.

Botanic Gardens, Brisbane. Lunchtime low key event. Had a couple of issues with the map (-30 secs each) where the map had uncrossable/out of bounds mapped where it was the only way to go. Made one serious mistake on my own (-1 min).
The flags were the small ones (10cm) and I had to carry my punch card free in one hand (no stretch band). Long time since I had to use actual punches.
Low Key Indeed - they managed to add 7 minutes to my time, and rub out my club!

Big Foot Akuna Ride. Had trouble hanging on to Pete's "rolling" with his 2:20 marathon mate. Was cooked by the time we got to Terry Hills. Struggled up Akuna East (13:26), but had a bit of a comeback on Mc Carrs Creek (9:28). Was vertically challenged on any bump after that though. Only one mechanical - Hamish dropped a chain at the Showgrounds. Darvo there after - has sold his Sydney house. Dave Hatley there too with a bandage on his wrist and a new helmet.

Akuna Bay, bigfoot ride. Well, part. Stopped to wait for the ambulance to take Dave Hatley away after the crash on the Akuna descent. The road was dry until halfway around that corner. Hamish went down first and Dave went over the top head first into the wall. Apparently nothing broken though. I had been spat on the previous hill so was descending on my own, a bit like Sir Bradley, so no problem.
