Glenmalure. 12th. Winner J Hayes 88:21. Felt good on hills, especially near the summit of Lug. Nike Internationalist not the best for downhill - but good for tracks. Hit the wall on the last hill, had to walk. Kept going on 3 mile downhill, just about. Couldn't get warm after until the drive home.

Eastern Region 800m, 1:56.0. Third behind Eugene Curran 1:51.2 and Charlie Milner 1:51.6. Off fast into 3rd place. Eugene took the lead on the back straight and put the pressure on. I didn't feel good and drifted back, letting E Palmer go by. Then felt better, relaxed and waited for the home straight, kicked into third place, just.
No phyllocontin am, 1 pm.

Bray Head. 420m x 6 on slight hill (3 min jog recovery). 79-81 secs. Felt strong. Pushing last section but concentrating on style.

Running race (Nationals) 1:14 [5] 0.8 km (1:32 / km)

National Trials, Tullamore. 5th in 1:54.15. Drawn on the inside, so got into the lead at the break. Ran on the outside of Lane 1 to the bell (56), then went to the inside on the bend and forced the pace. Still led into the straight but felt I couldn't lift pace any more. Milner, Gaynor, Gleeson and Dunne went past me 4 abreast with 90m to go. I tied up horribly with 50 to go. Dunne won in 1:52.05. Legs really sore after, but went away after a half hour. Headache most of the day. Very dehydrated - drink water next time.
