Running race 18:29 [5] 5.0 km (3:42 / km)

Ulster Novice Cross Country, Derry. Breakfast Egg-Toast-Tea at -5 hours. Snack Tea-Toast at -3 hours. Stitch threatened at one point. Stomach felt generally sore, but not as sore as it has been. I felt closer to throwing up at the finish than before.
Went off fast and led from 100m to 500m. Then the legs went weak and lost a lot of places in the next 500m. At the end of the small lap, with 2 big laps to go, I was behind Gildea, Finnegan, English, Fox and Toner. By the end of the first big lap I had moved up to first Letterkenny runner and was up with O'Donnell (Annagry) in about 12th. Still not running as fast as I think I could have, after a relatively slow first lap. Concentrating on rhythm or trying to get out of the mud. Passed 4 inc. Toye and Melly in last 500m, 2 more in the sprint.
A lot of times I felt like I could get up to those in front and a couple of times I did.
1 M Crawford 17:40, 3 I Monaghan (Lifford) 18:12, 6th 18:19, 7th E. R.
Letterkenny (7, 15, 19, 22) a poor 4th behind Sparta,Cranford and Olympic.

Running race (Cross Country) 23:00 [5] 6.0 km (3:50 / km)

Donegal Novice, Ballyshannon, 7th. Swiss Roll at -3 hours after egg-toast breakfast. Stitch threatened once but never came. Went off fast, then felt very tired. Fell back to 5th but rallied to stay with the 2nd Annagry. Then Fox came past and I couldn't stay with him (he was 5th after 13th in the Inter). Coming back towards him on the 4th lap, but lost resolve on last lap - 4th was possible. Outsprinted Alcorn and held off Finn Valley eejit who had passed me 3 times sprinting. Two other people I was ahead of in the Inter finished in front- Annagry guy (6th) and Toye of Cranford (3rd).
1 Monaghan (Lifford), 2 (Bosco), 3 Toye, 4 Melly (Killybegs), 5 Fox, 6 Annagry, 7 ER, 8 Alcorn (Annagry).

Letterkenny Timed Run. Running in longjohns. Food 3 hours before. Bit wheezy, just staying with the pace until 1 mile. Upped pace and immediately got stitch. Ran through it and was dropping back from Patsie Doherty when I got some inspiration; went up and outsprinted him by 2 seconds for the win.
