Running race 1:20:16 [4] 13.63 km (5:53 / km) +324m 5:16 / km

TrailAct trail race at Tidbinbilla. The long course is billed as 15km but is a bit shorter than that, and just when I was getting into it at the end. I started off ok for the first km then just died and felt like crap for the next couple of km. just kept plugging away amusing myself watching one woman just fly up the hills but slow to a crawl on the down - I am a bit the opposite. It is a fun course and changes all the time from narrow paths through high scrub to fire trails to open grassland and a bit of terrain running towards the end. There were a few familiar faces including BB, Liz and Dreaded on the short (8km) course and BA, Phil, Kristen and MaryMac on the long course. After coming through the assembly the first time I started feeling a lot better and really enjoyed the second half. I think my time was about 1 minute faster than last year but the course may have been a tiny bit shorter near the big hill towards the end - I did walk the hill but did it fast.

MaryMac took out the Senior Women (50+) on the long course, and BB was the fastest Senior Men on the short. MaryMac also had a couple of wins in the barrel draw so a pretty good morning. Weather was ideal.

Park run at Ginninderra. A perfect morning. Started feeling good and followed Gramps for the first km. he pulled ahead a tiny bit on the long gentle downhill off the bridge but I pegged him back and we ran together until half way then I gapped him. Then I started thinking I should take it easy before tomorrow so slowed a bit. Gramps went past me and put 30 secs on me in the last 2 km. I tried to not let too many past in the last 2 km but there are always a few who suddenly take off when they can smell home.

Another huge PB for MaryMac's new Garmin - it did all the hard work - but there was assistance from MaryMac. She reckons she has been too slack in the past but sometimes it just works and the PBs flow.

Lunchtime run. Started off with JP for the first bit, but halfway up Gossan I suggested he pick up the pace and not stick with me ... and he did. I went over the red foot bridge and across Aranda then into Black Mt. Did some of the fire trails then headed back into Aranda, across the playing fields, and finally through the Emu Ridge ovals. Bumped into JP for the last minute, but he had been to the top of Black Mt.

There was another magpie swooping in Aranda, but this time it was me doing the swooping. Poor thing was on the footpath and musn't have heard me coming unit the last moment.

RTW. I had my first magpie swooping of the year just as I got onto the bike path that goes through the middle of Melba. It wasn't much of a swoop, and the magpie gave up immediately. I think it needs to harden up.

Lunchtime run over Cook saddle then around bottom of Aranda Hill, across Frost Hollow and then through the cork plantation and up to the top of the Himalayan pines for a much needed toilet stop. Back the same way.

Run from home along northern edge of Spence then out to the Barton Hwy. It was getting dark about now. I picked up the CCT and followed it through Gold Creek then on to Ginninderra Creek. On the bike path through to McKellar then back home via the streets of Evatt.
