Australian Sprint Champs at Canberra Boys Grammar. Great area, if small, but we had a map change so got to stay in the complex bits which was fun. A good run overall, but still too many hesitations and slow bits. Most of my route choices were good. The only big problem being that I missed seeing 17 which was on the straight line between 16 and 18 so navigated nearly all the way to 18 when I realised my mistake. By the time I doubled back around the tennis court I had kissed goodbye to over 1 minute and 3rd place. Would still have been 30 seconds down on O-ing and 45 seconds on Geoff.

Lunchtime run up the Cook bike path between the trees then over Mt Painter and back along Coulter and a wiggle through Belconnen Town Centre. Second swooping of the season near Benjamin Offices - again there was no oomph in it.

NSW Long at Astley's Tower East near Kitchener. A much better effort than yesterday, at least mentally. I started off much more focussed. I was being careful on a few of the early legs in the flat vague creeks. On the longer leg from 6 to 7 I went straight up the slope to the road then tried to push along at a good pace. Went a bit to the right on 8 to avoid the green plus find a good AP closer to the control because it looked vague but the ditch was tiny so the flag sat up and was easy to find. Went left on 9 and ran through the start not wanting to risk getting caught in the green near the control on the straight line route. Followed the road to 10 but cut in too early so got caught in the green. Followed the fence to the left on 12 which was a good choice. I went straight to 14 taking care to keep contact the whole way because of the lower visibility. Overall it was a good course, if not the most difficult navigation, and the area is great to run on. Could have pushed a bit harder at times but felt in control the whole way and no poor legs. Ended up winning the course, with James L and Geoff T a few minutes back in 2nd and 3rd in M55.
